According to a recent report, the development team behind last year’s Soulslike action-RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers may have just been dissolved. This disbanding of the Wuchang: Fallen Feathers development team reportedly follows a major leadership shake-up at Leenzee Games.
Released in July 2025, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a third-person Soulslike that sees players assume the role of Bai Wuchang, a pirate living in the late Ming dynasty who sets off on a perilous quest to resurrect her younger sister. Upon its initial launch, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers received a fairly positive reception from critics, with the game achieving a Top Critic Average of 76 on OpenCritic and a critic recommendation score of 70%. While publisher 505 Games hasn’t released any official sales figures for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a September 2025 financial report from parent company Digital Bros did state that the game had a “successful” launch, with “strong physical sales.”
Every Soulslike Game That Rivals Elden Ring
Elden Ring is a near-perfect masterpiece, but a few soulslike games can stand alongside FromSoftware’s juggernaut.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Development Team May Have Been Dissolved
Despite the game reviewing decently and reportedly having a “successful” launch, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers‘ development team may have just been disbanded, less than a year after the game’s release. A few days ago, a GamerSky report (then picked up by SavePoint Gaming) claimed that the core team behind Wuchang had been disbanded by Leenzee Games following an internal dispute regarding leadership changes.
According to these reports, Wuchang director Xia Siyuan had been let go just prior to the Lunar New Year in February. Some reports claim that he left to form a new studio. In the wake of his absence, Leenzee Games higher-ups allegedly offered the remaining members of the Wuchang development team the chance to be reassigned to another project within the studio or to help with outsourced projects. These reports then claim that the remaining developers declined this offer, resulting in the entire team being disbanded.
Leenzee Games has not yet commented on any of these reports, nor has Xia Siyuan or any of the other developers potentially affected by this shake-up. It should be stated that all rumors should always be taken with a hefty pinch of salt, and that fans likely won’t truly know what happened until at least one party makes an official statement. That said, if these reports are true, then it seems very unlikely that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will receive any meaningful support in the near future.

Based in Chengdu, the capital of the Chinese province of Sichuan, Leenzee Games was founded back in 2016. Before Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Leenzee Games released A.D. 2047, a “cyberpunk sci-fi VR interactive movie” that hit Steam in July 2021. While Wuchang currently has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam after 5,063 English reviews, A.D. 2047 sits at a lower “Mixed” rating after just 80 user reviews. Leenzee Games hasn’t announced its next project, and if these recent reports are to be believed, it’s unclear just how many of the Wuchang: Fallen Feathers development team will stay on to work on that next project.
