You have quite a lot of activities to complete in Fallout 4, including managing the Settlements. Companions can help you with this, but unfortunately, they have a bad habit of getting lost from time to time. Companions can get lost in the Wasteland for a variety of reasons. For example, you might fast travel to another location or find a new Companion. In any case, Fallout 4 provides several ways to find them again, though they’re easy to miss.

Fallout 4 players share their accurate builds of a few characters from the highly acclaimed TV adaptation on Amazon Prime Video.
How To Locate Lost Companions In Fallout 4
One way to do this is available only to PC players and is not entirely fair, while the second method can be used by everyone. To locate a lost Companion in Fallout 4, you need to use the NPC teleport Console Command or create a Vault-Tec Population Management System.
How To Use Console Commands To Find Lost Companions
Unfortunately, Console Commands are only available to PC players. To find your lost companions in Fallout 4 using a Console Command, you must follow these steps:
- Open the Console by pressing the “~” button on your keyboard.
- Type “prid [input unique Companion ID]” and press Enter.
- After that, type “moveto player” and press Enter again.
- Finally, close the Console so that your lost friend appears in front of you.
Each Companion in Fallout 4 has a unique ID, except Automatron, which changes depending on how you build it. And to make it more convenient for you, all Fallout 4 Companion IDs have been compiled below:

How To Use The Vault-Tec Population Management System To Locate Lost Companions
If you do not want or cannot use Console Commands, then this method is what you need. While in your Settlement, open the build menu, select Power, and then the Miscellaneous section. There, you will find the Vault-Tec Population Management System, which will help you find Companions in Fallout 4. Once you have built it, interact with it and go to the VIP tracker tab. There, players can select specific or all Companions and mark their location on the map. But this, of course, only applies to recruited NPCs.
