Highlights
- The new Fallout 76 Scoreboard forces players to acquire more tickets than it’s possible to spend if they hope to unlock all of its rewards.
- This issue was recently highlighted by one veteran player, who found themselves frustrated after approaching the end of the Season 16 Scoreboard.
- The new battle pass-like reward progression system has been the subject of much fan criticism since debuting in late March 2024.
One experienced Fallout 76 player has recently taken to social media to bemoan the fact that the only way to acquire the entirety of the game’s seasonal rewards is to acquire more in-game currency than it’s actually possible to spend. Their grievance underlines yet another perceived issue with Fallout 76‘s new battle pass-like Scoreboard.
How the Old Fallout 76 Scoreboard Worked
The old S.C.O.R.E. system has been in place for nearly four years, having been initially introduced in June 2020, a year and a half following the game’s debut. Over its first 15 three-month seasons, players were able to complete a variety of tasks in order to gain points that would help them rank up. Their progression followed a linear path, with each rank offering a reward that was visible in advance. Additional predetermined rewards were given out at special milestones: rank 25, 50, 76, and 100. Bethesda replaced this system with a multi-page, choice-based Scoreboard in Fallout 76 Season 16, which went live on March 26. The final page of the new rewards board requires reaching an S.C.O.R.E. rank of 150 to unlock.

Fallout 76 Collectionist Frustrated With Season 16 Scoreboard
Based on the resulting social media chatter, the community has been largely dissatisfied with this change. One of its most recent complaints was authored by Reddit user Superbeast1983, who subscribes to the collectionist approach to the game, trying to unlock everything it has to offer. But after reaching rank 149 on the new Fallout 76 Scoreboard, they found themselves with only 65 tickets, whereas the sole remaining reward on the penultimate page that they were yet to unlock was priced at 100. With the game awarding only 25 tickets per rank, the player will be forced to reach rank 151 to clear out page 14. Since the tickets can’t be spent elsewhere and don’t carry over across Fallout 76 seasons, they will inevitably have 15 leftover denominations, because the items on the final Scoreboard page are priced at 75 tickets each.
Fallout 76 Season 15 vs Season 16 Scoreboard
While Superbeast1983 attributed this to “greed,” some other fans characterized it as poor planning on Bethesda’s part. Regardless, this particular complaint is also a reflection of a larger issue in that the new system is even more grindy than the previous one. As Reddit user Mrkoekie put it in response to this grievance, “[the Season 16 Scoreboard] does not respect my time and catching up is impossible.” At least hundreds of other players have voiced similar concerns since March 2024, making the new Fallout 76 Scoreboard quite a controversial topic among the fandom.
[The Season 16 Scoreboard] does not respect my time and catching up is impossible.
Bethesda previously said this revamp was meant to give players more agency when choosing how to be rewarded for their activity. But with universally beloved Fallout 76 seasonal rewards still being few and far between, some players are now saying they prefer the more linear system from the previous 15 seasons, which required less interaction to take advantage of.
