Marvel Rivals, a hero shooter that reminds you how much you stare at asses in these things, is no stranger to skins. But even seasoned players were unprepared for the package delivered in Captain America’s summer swimwear look. Steve Rogers has never appeared more excited for battle, with a bulge so pronounced it clips through his chair. However, it appears NetEase may have already nerfed Cap’s latest asset, with fans debating if he’s actually humbled or if it’s a trick of the light.

At the start of the month, Marvel Rivals kicked off the summer season with new swimwear skins for Captain America, Loki and White Fox. Usually par for the course, an increased amount of attention was given to Cap’s new look, as his rocket appears to have left his pocket. Cap’s big ol’ bulge seemed to warble with its own physics, the enhanced super soldier’s stiffy clipping through certain emotes.
Some wondered if Cap was victim to a model rigging mishap. That its his pelvis bone, not his reproductive one, popping out. If unintentional, it’d be a strange thing to hit the market. But this battle of the bulge hasn’t stopped there. Just a few days later, on the Fourth of July no less, players are convinced that NetEase has already nerfed Captain America’s pride. Make no mistake, still big. But not as big. How much shrinkage, if at all, has become a hot topic for debate.
“I extracted and pulled the model,” posted Reddit user L9-45. “There is no changes directly to the model or rigging from what I can see. It’s possible they fixed the bulge to parent it to his Pelvis which would fix the stretch down.” Further down the thread, another commented that this is incredibly unemployed behavior.

In 2018 DC Comics gave us our first official look at Batman’s hog and I’ve always wondered how much of an editorial discussion there was around the decision that it wouldn’t be ridiculous. Marvel Rivals’ creators attest that their game is not intended to be overtly randy, though the proof is ultimately in the pudding. At the end of the day, Rob Liefeld seems to adore the new skin. Not much else you can ask for.
