February 26 is Suddenly a Big Day for Stardew Valley Fans

Stardew Valley fans should be excited for February 26, with developer ConcernedApe dropping a surprise video to celebrate the game’s tenth anniversary and tease the 1.7 update. The farming sim has been one of gaming’s biggest indie darlings of the last decade, seeing universal success and both fan and critical acclaim. Stardew Valley has been one of the biggest games cited with the modern boom of farming sim and “cozy” games, taking inspiration from games like Harvest Moon. Now, the farming sim is gearing up to celebrate a huge milestone.

Stardew Valley is set to celebrate its tenth birthday, with plenty of reasons to celebrate for fans. The game has seen consistent updates since its 2016 launch, including a plethora of major updates adding everything from new events, locations, and multiplayer, among other things. ConcernedApe has already hinted at the next big patch set to arrive for Stardew Valley, with

the 1.7 update expected to bring multiple new marriage candidates and changes to make children “more interesting.” Stardew Valley fans are now set to get a big sneak peek at Version 1.7 for the game’s tenth anniversary.

Stardew Valley is Getting a Special Tenth Anniversary Video

ConcernedApe officially teased a special video to air on February 26, celebrating ten years of Stardew Valley. The developer goes into detail about the content set to be featured, planning to show off some pre-release footage of the 1.7 update alongside ConcernedApe’s personal commentary. Stardew Valley will also reveal its two new marriage candidates at the end of the presentation, serving as one of the most notable parts already teased about Version 1.7’s array of changes. Stardew Valley fans can catch the premiere of the anniversary video on YouTube at 2:00 PM ET on February 26, with the video expected to be available afterwards on ConcernedApe’s channel.

While little information has surfaced about the new marriage candidates, fans have already proposed a variety of pre-existing characters as romantic options. The Wizard has been one of the most popular choices for a new Stardew Valley marriage candidate, which would be particularly notable given the character rarely leaves the Wizard’s Tower. Other villagers like Marlon, Willy, and Sandy have also been suggestions from fans for pre-existing villagers who could gain new romantic routes. ConcernedApe could also choose to introduce entirely new NPCs to Stardew Valley as marriage candidates, rather than choosing from the game’s current cast.

The fan excitement for Stardew Valley‘s next big update comes as the patch has yet to see its release window fully solidified. ConcernedApe has yet to officially confirm when the 1.7 update will be available, stating in September 2025 that the update would “take a while” before it fully launches. While the comments are several months old, the debut of new gameplay from Stardew Valley‘s 1.7 update could suggest that its release may be sooner than fans had expected. ConcernedApe stressed the importance of getting the rollout of the patch right as well, with the 1.6 update in 2024 experiencing delays for its console version.

Stardew Valley‘s newest update comes as the game’s creator still has another big project in the works. ConcernedApe recently shared a new update about the development of Haunted Chocolatier, confirming that it is “coming along,” though he did not share any big announcements for the game. Despite Haunted Chocolatier initially being revealed in 2020, ConcernedApe has previously stated that he does not expect the game to release until 2030 at the earliest. While ConcernedApe’s second big game is still a ways off, Stardew Valley looks to keep fans coming back with even more new content to enjoy.
