Alongside the launch of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Arc System Works releases a Day 1 patch for the highly anticipated fighting game, addressing plenty of issues and feedback from the previous beta. The day many have been waiting for has arrived as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a fighting game collaboration between Sony, Arc System Works, and Marvel, is finally available for PS5 and PC.
After being revealed last summer during a PlayStation State of Play, Marvel Tokon has picked up a ton of steam over these past few months as new characters like Magneto, Deadpool, and plenty more were revealed for the playable roster. In July, fans were able to go hands-on with a robust open beta offering of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, including online matches, training tools, and single-player content. While there was plenty of enjoyment to be had, the open beta wasn’t free of issues, especially for those on the PC.
As unfortunate as it was, the beta issues were ultimately helpful for Arc System Works, who confirmed that player feedback would be applied to Marvel Tokon at launch. Before jumping into the game, players will need to download a new update for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which features plenty of fixes and improvements based on feedback from the open beta. PC players in general will notice that the game now has reduced CPU usage and an overall improved performance. ArcSys also improved shader warm-up and anti-aliasing behavior as well, hopefully resulting in a much smoother experience overall.
Upset Marvel Tokon open beta players also had plenty to say about the game’s various inputs and how, at times, it felt unresponsive. As such, ArcSys made changes to certain inputs to help players activate certain abilities. The X-Men character Danger also had her ground dashes revised, allowing players to now cancel a dash into a skill move and making it less likely that aerial special moves are accidentally triggered instead. The patch notes also indicate that the PS5 version of the game received “additional measures” to help reduce input lag even more.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
Alongside the game’s launch, PlayStation players can also get their hands on a special offer. PlayStation Plus subscribers can get a free Marvel Tokon bonus by downloading a set of 5 avatars for use on PSN as well as special result screen character poses for the game. The special win screen poses are for all 20 characters on the roster, including Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and more.
While some of the surprises may have been spoiled when the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls trophies leaked early, it’s clear that Arc System Works has plenty more on the horizon after launch. Earlier this week, the studio teased as much with a mystery fighter being playable, though for many, the attention turns to future DLC content. Phoenix Cyclops was previously confirmed as the first DLC character to join the roster, leaving fans to speculate at who else could make the cut and what kind of interesting twists they could have applied.
