Fighting Souls Reveals Newest Character and Next Hero Team

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls reveals Peni Parker for the main fighting roster, while also announcing the formation of The Amazing Guardians during the Arc World Tour 2025–2026 Finals in Korea. Featuring a Japanese-inspired aesthetic for many of Marvel’s traditional heroes, the game also isn’t afraid to feature some of the lesser-known heroes, like Danger. With the launch date for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls rapidly approaching in a few months, fans should expect to see plenty of more news coming soon.

With Marvel Tokon barreling towards an August 2026 release, Arc System Works has continued to reveal new details about the game. In fact, ArcSys showcased Marvel Tokon‘s Unbreakable X-Men team, confirming Wolverine, Magik, and Danger joining up with Storm. For most fighting game fans, part of the fun leading up to release is to see who is actually going to make the launch roster, though with Marvel Tokon, many have begun to wonder which teams will ultimately be included as well. While many are banking on an Avengers team with Captain America and Iron Man, how the rest of the team shakes out is still up in the air.

Peni Parker Joins the Amazing Guardians Team in Marvel Tokon

The biggest reveal from the latest Marvel Tokon trailer is that the newest hero to join the roster is Peni Parker. Unlike the Peni from Marvel Rivals or even from the Spider-Verse animated films, this version of the character’s SP//dr mech suit is bulkier and doesn’t appear to have its limbs attached like a traditional model, instead using some sort of electromagnets to help keep things in place. The top of the mech is open, allowing Peni to animate and add personality as the mech shapeshifts into various forms during combat.

For many fans trying to piece together possible teams, the main outlier seemed to be Star-Lord, as his Guardians of the Galaxy background and being a character associated with space meant he didn’t seem to fit cleanly with any potential teams based on the current roster of characters. As it turns out, Marvel Tokon‘s take on Star-Lord is joining up with Spider-Man, Peni Parker, and Ms. Marvel in the newly named Amazing Guardians team. The latest trailer also reveals some new footage including Star-Lord calling in his ship, The Milano, and a brand new cosmic stage called The Middle of Knowhere. Knowhere should be pretty familiar for fans of Marvel, as the location has been seen across various media, from comics and shows, to games, and even in the MCU.

The trailer also showcased more of the game’s narrative elements, introducing players to a mysterious character clad in white and pink, addressing the citizens of Earth over the upcoming contest. In a corresponding blog post, producer Takeshi Yamanaka revealed that this “master of ceremonies” is known as the Promoter, Xirena Awhina. She’s an Elder of the Universe, part of an alien race that travels the galaxy organizing high-stakes entertainment. In this case, The Promoter has gathered the heroes and villains on Earth to take part in a tournament to decide the fate of the planet.

Wrapping up, Yamanaka also revealed some of the many changes that have taken place in the current build of Marvel Tokon. The previous Marvel Tokon beta tests and the feedback players provided have helped reshape parts of the game to better refine and improve the gameplay as a whole. This includes things like dedicated buttons for tags or assists, faster character switching, and more. In addition, Marvel Tokon will not only allow players to create their own teams while playing, but the game will automatically generate a team name based on the included characters that reference Marvel lore. The name is even said by the ring announcer during matches, so it’s not just for show.
