Earlier this year, Square Enix announced that remasters of Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 10-2 would hit the Nintendo Switch family of hybrid consoles on July 23, but it seems fans of the blitzballer Tidus are in for a treat—he’s slated to appear in another video game on October 22. Given how popular a Final Fantasy character Tidus is, his return is no doubt a welcome surprise.
Final Fantasy 10 is often in the top 5, top 3, or #1 best conversations when it comes to ranking Final Fantasy games, and Tidus is a big reason why. The worldbuilding is epic, the gameplay is solid, and the overall vibe is immaculate, but Tidus is the heart of Final Fantasy 10. His relationship with Yuna is remembered by many fans years after, but unfortunately, Tidus appears to be the only representative of Final Fantasy 10 in Resonance.
Tidus Represents Final Fantasy 10 in FF Resonance
Final Fantasy Resonance is set to release on October 22, and among its many features are Visions. Similar to Final Fantasy‘s long history of summons, Visions draw forth heroes from other worlds and timelines into the HD-2D gameplay of Final Fantasy Resonance. All of this is rooted in FF Resonance‘s lore and how crystals operate in this new world, but being able to pull in other heroes and characters is no doubt a cool feature (especially for a non-gacha game). These characters are various heroes from across the franchise, mostly protagonists, and so Tidus represents Final Fantasy 10. Thus far, the confirmed protagonist Visions include:

IF there was some sort of Gacha game or mobile game, fans may understandably feel cheated by this absolute stack of Mount Rushmore-level Final Fantasy heroes, but knowing that Final Fantasy Resonance is as important to the IP as any non-numered entry in the franchise goes a long way. It’ll release on PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 1/2, and Xbox Series X/S in October, and let players enjoy Tidus and other characters (some new) for 30-40 hours (60-80 for completionists).
Of course, Visions are just one feature in an otherwise stacked list of possibilities in Final Fantasy Resonance. Players can craft weapons, obtain and summon Espers (including Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, and Odin), visit various towns and hubs, complete various mini-games like Mog Tag or Jump Rope, face enemies in the Colosseum, or pursue the Twelve Legendary Arms to obtain the Ultimate Weapon. Yeah, it’s a full-blown high-expectation Final Fantasy game.

It’ll be interesting to see how Final Fantasy Reosnanec is ultimately received, especially by fans of Tidus. Final Fantasy 10-3 is a fever dream at this point, but it’s good to know that protagonists like Tidus (if not older) are not forgotten in the modern Final Fantasy landscape.
