The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 14 has a loading time issue where players may stay stuck on a dark screen for a longer time than usual. The issue came up immediately after Final Fantasy 14 went live on Nintendo’s current-gen console on August 4.
Final Fantasy 14’s Switch 2 Release Affected By Long Loading Times
Although the performance of Final Fantasy 14‘s Switch 2 port was well-received, players may encounter an issue that is not present in other ports of the game. Square Enix stated via the Lodestone that the Switch 2 edition of Final Fantasy 14 has load times that take longer than usual to complete when the screen goes dark. Square Enix stated that this can happen when players are in a city or location that has a high volume of player characters. This delay is also notably long when the screen fades to black during combat in a dungeon, during PVP matches, or when using any teleportation method in a dungeon. Square Enix indicated that it is taking steps to optimize the processes involved to safely load Final Fantasy 14 on the Switch 2. However, the development team did not state when a fix would be implemented.
