In response to a recent question from a fan, the voice behind Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s Cloud Strife, Cody Christian, teased the “emotionality and vulnerability” of the third installment’s ending. Calling the finale a “payoff,” Christian made the bold promise that players will be “sobbing” at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s ending if they haven’t already cried during the previous two entries.
All the way back in 2005, PlayStation showed a now-infamous trailer during its E3 presentation, one that depicted the iconic Final Fantasy 7 city of Midgar in a brand-new, much-improved light. While this trailer was simply a showcase of Square Enix’s Crystal Tools engine, it would spark a flame in fans that refused to die down. 15 years later, that flame gave birth to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, 19 years later it produced Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and now, a whopping 21 years later, fans are getting ready to receive the third and final installment of this long-requested Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy.
More Final Fantasy Remakes Could Be On The Way
Square Enix is considering the possibility of more Final Fantasy remakes in the future, following the success of the developer’s recent remakes.
Cloud Strife Actor Says Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Have Fans “Sobbing”
During the recent San Antonio Kawacon (and per a report from GamesRadar), the actor behind Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth, and Revelation‘s central protagonist Cloud Strife, Cody Christian, spoke about the emotional ending that lies ahead of fans in this third and final entry. In response to a fan named Ally B, Christian said the following about Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s emotional content:
“There’s so much emotionality, there’s so much vulnerability… There are moments in this that if you haven’t cried in the first two yet, I guarantee you’ll be sobbing in this third one… It’s a payoff.”

Without spoiling specifics or any important details, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth‘s ending leaves things on a rather bittersweet note, and based on its debut trailer, it seems as though Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is going to carry forward that tone. With this foundation of vulnerability, and the source material already laid before it, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is poised to build an incredibly emotional story and send-off for some of gaming’s most beloved characters.
Soon after the airing of FF7 Revelation‘s announcement trailer during Summer Game Fest last month, the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, made similar statements regarding the emotionality of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s ending. Speaking with Brazilian outlet Omelete, Hamaguchi claimed that he has already finished Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s main story “about 40 times”, and that each and every time there’s one sequence in particular that makes him cry. While Hamaguchi didn’t spoil the scene in question directly, he did state that it’s “essential to the story of Final Fantasy 7” and that it sees Cloud going through “a moment of introspection” surrounding his identity.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s Emotional Ending Might Not Be The End
Naturally, there’s an inherent emotional weight behind the finale of such an ambitious and beloved trilogy. But if a recent listing on the Epic Games Store is to believed, then the story of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy may not be over when Revelation‘s credits roll. Spotted by a fan and posted to r/GamingLeaksAndRumors on July 2, the Epic Games Store’s sandbox listing for FF7 Revelation includes a list of alleged DLCs, including a “Story Expansion pass,” which could hint at story additions in the near future.
