Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will feature Sephiroth and Vincent in two post-launch story expansions, according to game director Naoki Hamaguchi. Both pieces of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation story DLC were revealed shortly after the game’s release date was unveiled.
As the climactic finale of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be a globe-trotting adventure that will see Cloud and the main cast fight back against the threat of Sephiroth and the gargantuan Weapons wreaking havoc across the planet. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will launch worldwide on April 8, 2027, on all current-gen platforms. Regardless of which platformer players buy it on, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will also require substantial storage space, as the Switch 2’s Game-Key Card packaging indicated that the game will need at least 130 GB available.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Unveils Two Story DLC Packs
Although Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will not be released for another seven months, that has not stopped Square Enix from revealing its post-launch plans for the upcoming JRPG. FF7 Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed on Twitter that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will have two story DLC packs. The first story pack will focus on Sephiroth, while the second DLC will tell the story of Vincent and The Turks. Both expansions are included in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s Collector’s Edition, Premium Edition, and Premium Plus Edition as of this writing. Given that Hamaguchi previously stated that more characters from Final Fantasy 7 spin-offs would appear in FF7 Revelation in capacity, both the Sephiroth and Vincent DLCs could be used as avenues for the developers to add them.
Both of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s story expansions will be released between Winter 2027 and April 2028, meaning that each pack will likely be out within a year of FF7 Revelation‘s launch. In response, Final Fantasy fans shared guesses as to what stories the Sephiroth and Vincent DLC packs could tell. Some fans claimed that the Sephiroth DLC could be used to cover some of the One-Winged Angel’s backstory featured in the soon-to-be shut-down Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis. Likewise, other fans guessed that the DLC story of Vincent and The Turks could focus on content from Before Crisis: Final Fantasy 7, a mobile phone spin-off title from 2004 that was never released outside Japan.
However, fans of Sephiroth need not wait until April 8 for more content featuring Final Fantasy 7‘s iconic antagonist. During the September 3 State of Play episode, Square Enix revealed that Sephiroth will be in Final Fantasy Resonance as both a boss and a Vision that players can encounter. Sephiroth is one of the 26 Vision characters that can be used in battle to deal high damage to enemies. Final Fantasy Resonance launches on October 22, with a free demo now available for players on all platforms to try out.
Given how popular Sephiroth is within the Final Fantasy series, it should come as no surprise that a Final Fantasy 7 Revelation expansion focused on him is in development. It remains to be seen when Square Enix will share more details about the Sephiroth and Vincent DLCs.
