Footage of an upcoming PlayStation live-service game has surfaced online, offering a substantial look at a project that has largely remained out of public view. The material appears to reveal PlayStation’s Fairgames, although not by name.
A competitive heist game from Montreal-based Haven Studios, Fairgames was originally announced during the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. Haven, founded by industry veteran Jade Raymond in 2021 and acquired by Sony the following year, pitched its debut title as a PvP experience centered on crews infiltrating restricted locations, stealing from wealthy targets, and escaping with their loot. Fairgames is in development for the PlayStation 5 and PC, but more than three years after its reveal, Sony has yet to commit to a concrete release date.
The Playtest Is Fully Public, Albeit Not Officially Associated with Fairgames
The new footage comes from a Player.gg test for Project Espresso, officially described as a third-person PvPvE heist game. Although the playtest remains restricted, multiple first-hand accounts from invited participants suggest that this “unannounced competitive action shooter” is indeed Fairgames. That makes the circumstances surrounding the footage somewhat different from a typical leak, as the clips now circulating on social media were, and still are, being used to promote the alleged Fairgames playtest.

All Links Between Fairgames and Project Espresso
There is considerably more linking Project Espresso to Sony’s live-service shooter than visual similarities alone, including an April 2026 Insider Gaming report claiming that Haven had conducted a Fairgame$ pre-alpha test under the codename Espresso. Moreover, the official Player.gg description closely matches Haven’s original pitch for the game, particularly its focus on infiltrating high-security locations, stealing cargo, and escaping before rival crews. Project Espresso also lists the PS5 and PC as development platforms, further strengthening the apparent link. Some social media posts from purported testers have additionally claimed that participation requires a PlayStation account, though GameRant was unable to verify that detail. As of September 11, 2026, enrollment appears to require only a Steam account.
