Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is getting a surprise free update on October 27, 2026, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, with additional content becoming available on October 30, 2026. Developer Dimps has officially confirmed that players can now look forward to new rewards and costumes for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, as well as an anniversary event with exclusive items for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse was originally released a decade ago on October 25, 2016. The action RPG is all about giving players enough freedom to create their own characters, participate in battles, and protect the Dragon Ball, of course. However, even though the game is quite old now, it continues to receive new updates and additional content. Bandai Namco has already announced the release of the new Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 as well, but it seems like this has not discouraged the publisher from ensuring that its predecessor gets enough attention.

According to the official announcement from Bandai Namco, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will receive a free update on October 27, 2026, which will include new login bonuses, additional Gallery of Time content, and even some special costumes for players to enjoy. However, it’s important to mention that the Future Saga Chapter 4 DLC has to be purchased to unlock the Gallery of Time content. In any case, the anniversary celebrations will continue until October 30, 2026, with the Final Festival of Universes in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which will bring back some more items and allow players to earn 25 times more Star Coins than usual.
Moreover, players will get the chance to increase their camaraderie with the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Supreme Kai of Time, Trunks, or Fu to unlock special illustrations. They will also be able to earn a commemorative Gi and medal. Last but not least, those who manage to obtain either item and link their Bandai Namco ID will be able to unlock the special Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 rewards as well and get them when the title launches in 2027. In any case, players need to be aware that the exact rewards will depend on which anniversary items they have.

GameRant Quiz
Considering that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been around for a while now, many players find it surprising that the game is still getting so much attention from the developers. After all, most older games don’t usually get more than the occasional bug fix, especially after a successor has been announced. Moreover, this may also suggest that developer Dimps isn’t ending the Xenoverse 2 era after all, and players might have even more content to look forward to in the future.
Most would also agree that connecting Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 to the anniversary celebration is one of the smartest ways to bring longtime fans and newbies together. Interestingly, this also serves as an example of how milestone celebrations can actually contribute to the bigger picture as well by giving players a reason to come back, while simultaneously looking forward to something new.
