Former Xbox Console Exclusive Shadow Dropped on PS5

Double Fine’s atmospheric adventure game Keeper has just been shadow-dropped on PlayStation 5. While Keeper has been available on PC since its original October 2025 launch, it remained an Xbox console exclusive. That is, until now.

When Keeper made its debut on Xbox Series X/S and PC last year, it was met with a generally strong reception from critics. Over on OpenCritic, Keeper holds a Top Critic Average of 81 and a critic recommendation score of 76%. That said, while Keeper was a hit with many critics, it didn’t quite land with me. In the official GameRant review of Keeper, I gave the Double Fine game a 6/10, calling it a “beautiful but flawed adventure” due to its gorgeous visuals but its disappointingly simple puzzle gameplay.

New PS5 Shark Game Lets You Eat People at a Waterpark

A sequel to a 2020 ‘ShaRkPG’ has just been announced, and it’s going to let players eat attendees of a bustling waterpark.

Keeper Is Available Now on PS5

Announced with a brief one-minute trailer during the most recent Sony State of Play, Keeper is now officially available on PlayStation 5. For those who have never heard of the game before, Keeper is a puzzle adventure game that sees players assume the role of a walking lighthouse who must rid the colorful world they find themselves in of a menacing blight. Players must use the right analog stick to shine their light on the environment to clear infected areas, solve simple puzzles, and interact with a variety of visually-striking creatures. Usually, Keeper will retail for $19.99 on the US PlayStation Store, but until September 17, those with an active PS Plus subscription will be able to purchase the acclaimed Double Fine adventure game for $15.99.

This shadow-drop comes off the heels of some major shake-ups at Double Fine. Back at the start of July, Xbox announced mass layoffs across all of its departments and studios. Double Fine was one such studio, but rather than just receiving a round of layoffs, Xbox severed ties with Double Fine altogether. Double Fine has since announced its return to independence and has acquired the rights to its previously-released IP, though it suffered its own round of layoffs at the end of July.

In other Double Fine news, the newly independent studio has just launched a Kickstarter campaign. Called ‘Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot’ the latest Double Fine Kickstarter asks for funding for an upcoming game jam. According to the Kickstarter’s description, this game jam has been a tradition at Double Fine since 2007, and it involves the developers coming together to pitch and create a variety of game prototypes over the course of a two-week period. The best of these prototypes is then often turned into a full-fledged experience, with past examples including Costume Quest, Iron Brigade, and Stacking.

As part of this Kickstarter, Double Fine is offering backers the ability to choose the four games from the jam that the studio will then turn into full experiences. A documentary from 2 Player Productions will also be funded as part of the Amnesia Fortnight 2026 Kickstarter, and there’s even a tongue-in-cheek tease that the studio will begin work on a Brutal Legend sequel if the Kickstarter hits $100 million.
