Fortnite Brings Back First Exclusive Pass Cosmetic to the Shop (& It's a Star Wars Skin)

Captain Phasma has returned to Fortnite, which means previous Pass items have begun to rotate into the Item Shop and are no longer exclusive. Fortnite and Disney are once again collaborating this May. It has become an annual tradition for fans to commemorate May the Fourth in-game, as there are always themed quests and NPCs, cosmetics based on favorite characters, and all sorts of fun activities.

On April 30, the most recent Fortnite update went live, and it featured an array of Star Wars content. It wasn’t all released at once, so gamers can have a well-balanced month full of Star Wars activities for them to indulge in. From the Fortnite x Star Wars roadmap that Epic Games shared, players immediately knew that they’d be able to claim a free Carbonite Fishstick back bling once the update went live, Clone Wars skins the following day, and a new Mandalorian skin would hit the shop on May 21.

Previous LEGO Pass Cosmetic Returns to Item Shop

According to an announcement in 2024, Pass cosmetics released after August 7, 2024, would no longer be exclusive and could return to the game via the Item Shop 18 months following the end of the pass they belonged to. Fans did the math and realized that in early May, the first exclusive interval would come to an end, and it would be possible to purchase returning Pass cosmetics in the shop. However, many weren’t expecting it to happen so soon. When the Item Shop updated on May 1 at 8 PM ET, Captain Phasma became available for sale, making it the first returning cosmetic set from a former pass. Captain Phasma was initially obtainable in Fortnite as part of the First Order LEGO Pass.

Captain Phasma is being sold in the Item Shop alongside the Quicksilver Baton Spear and the Lil’ Treadspeeder emote. The Captain Phasma skin costs 1,500 V-Bucks, the Spear pickaxe costs 800 V-Bucks, and the emote is 500 V-Bucks. Individually, players can purchase the items for 2,800 V-Bucks, but they can get this in a bundle for only 2,000 V-Bucks. Players have until May 5 to purchase any of these cosmetics before the Item Shop resets, and they are moved out of rotation.

The Lil’ Treadspeer emote was available through the LEGO Pass just like the Captain Phasma skin. During this same May the Fourth event, Epic Games gave away the Quicksilver Baton Spear pickaxe in Fortnite alongside the Assault on the Death Star loading screen. Oddly enough, the loading screen isn’t in the Item Shop, not even as an additional reward for those who purchased the Captain Phasma bundle.

While some players are happy that they’re able to buy these items that they missed out on in the past, bringing back old Pass skins to Fortnite was a controversial decision on Epic Games’s part. From the very beginning, Pass items were always exclusive to those who got them when they first became available. Thankfully, this was only applied to cosmetics released after the changes were announced. So, players who weren’t happy with this decision could refrain from purchasing future Pass cosmetics, and their previous purchases remain exclusive, and it is currently impossible for them to return.
