Fortnite Leak Teases New Game Mode

Fortnite Leak Teases New Game Mode

With Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 now in full swing, many players are excitedly jumping in to enjoy all the latest changes to the game. One unexpected change that is rumored to be on the way is the inclusion of a fully first-person Fortnite Team Deathmatch Mode, which would see players selecting from a list of playable classes and facing off in 6-v-6 combat. Fortnite may have debuted as a battle royale that prioritized gunplay and building in equal measure, but as the game has evolved over the years, it has continued to make major changes that aim to draw in more players across a variety of gaming backgrounds.

Despite calls by many fans to boycott Fortnite following the announcement of V-Bucks price increases, the release of exclusive skins themed to the hit film KPop Demon Hunters, the recently launched Resident Evil Requiem, and even a surprising lineup of Game of Thrones characters has drawn in audiences from across multiple fandoms. Fortnite has long been beloved for its inclusion of pop culture crossovers spanning gaming, television, cinema, sports, and even music, and the addition of new game modes like the LEGO Survival and Sandbox experiences have kept gameplay engaging for both veteran and first-time players. Looking to further build out its lineup of game modes, the latest rumors suggest that Fortnite could be taking a page out of Overwatch‘s playbook with an unexpected FPS Deathmatch mode.

Some Fortnite Players Want the Option to Disable Certain Skins

Fortnite players are wanting Epic Games to make a change to the battle royale’s skin system, asking for the ability to disable specific skins.

Fortnite Team Deathmatch Mode Could Be Coming Soon

According to popular Fortnite leakers Loolo_WRLD and Egyptian_Leaker, the beloved game is rumored to be getting a “First-Person TDM” game mode that will be “coming soon.” This new Team Deathmatch mode for Fortnite will include classic gameplay rules, similar to those found in games like Apex Legends, Counter Strike, and even Rainbow Six Siege, and will feature two teams of six users choosing from different player classes to battle it out in a new dedicated map. The Fortnite Deathmatch is also said to include “custom weapons” that will only be available in this mode and will feature unique items like “a sword that blocks attacks.” As for the rumored playable classes, Loolo_WRLD lists Assault, Infantry, Rush, Close Encounters, Breacher, Cowboy, Ranger, and Suppressive as the possible options. A mini-map radar view is also expected to be included in Fortnite Deathmatch, offering fans a drastically different yet oddly familiar gameplay experience to enjoy alongside other gameplay modes.

Early reactions to the teaser have been noticeably mixed. Overwatch and even Valorant players have shared their excitement for a new TDM game, while a number of fans have voiced disappointment at the perceived lack of support for Fortnite Ballistic. For those unfamiliar, Fortnite Ballistic was a tactical FPS game mode that was first released in early access in December 2024 and has received little in the way of updates since then. The alleged leaks of Fortnite Deathmatch have left audiences wondering if Deathmatch will be a replacement for Ballistic or if both game modes will be receiving more attention as Fortnite continues to evolve.

Of course, it is always important to remember that even the most reliable of leakers can get things wrong from time to time, not to mention development can sometimes shift suddenly and turn once-accurate rumors into so-called nothingburgers. Whether Epic Games is preparing to announce a Team Deathmatch Mode anytime soon remains to be seen, but it would not be entirely surprising for the iconic game to reveal yet another major new gameplay mode for Fortnite that could once again draw in a broader audience. Interested fans can follow along for any official confirmation on the rumored Fortnite Deathmatch, as well as any possible updates on Fortnite Ballistic and other content coming to the game.
