Fortnite fans are raising serious complaints about the presence of bots in Chapter 7 Season 4, with players finding that many lobbies in the new season have more bots than real players. The newest season of Fortnite officially launched on August 20.
The launch of Chapter 7 Season 4 brought plenty of exciting new content to Epic Games’ battle royale. The new Override season puts the focus on video game crossovers with a variety of iconic franchises, including skins based on Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, and Pac-Man. The season brought multiple new game-inspired weapons, including the Midas Masterpiece and the Mega Buster, with more iconic weapons coming later, such as the Kingdom Key from Kingdom Hearts and Rebecca’s Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. However, fans noticed one major issue with bots and in-game lobbies following the debut of Chapter 7 Season 4.
Fortnite Players Are Fighting More Bots Than Real Players
Fortnite fan Au5la on Twitter shared some statistics about bots in the battle royale’s newest season, noting a particular spike in Season 4. The post includes statistics collected by a Discord bot from previous seasons of Fortnite, which showed real player counts roughly between 58 and 65 in each match. Reports from a similar bot show significantly lower real player counts since the start of Fortnite‘s Chapter 7 Season 4, with some matches having as few as 25 out of the 100-player lobby. Many fans have already said that the overuse of bots in lobbies has made the game less fun, claiming to only be fighting real players near the end of matches.

The use of bots in battle royale matches has been an ongoing issue for many fans of Fortnite. Players have often said that the experience of fighting bots in Fortnite does not compare to real players, feeling that the lower skill level of bots can negatively affect new players trying to improve at Fortnite. The game’s matchmaking has been an ongoing complaint for disgruntled fans, feeling that the game’s skill-based matchmaking is in need of a major overhaul rather than adding more bots into lower skill-level matches.
Fortnite‘s new season brought plenty of new mechanics to the table to coincide with its video game theming. Epic Games introduced the Tetris Rift as a unique new item themed around the beloved puzzle game, creating Tetris blocks that players can use as cover and ends by granting an area-of-effect heal. The iconic Rings from Sonic the Hedgehog can also be found throughout the new Green Hill Zone POI, with rings granting players Overshield for collecting them and losing all of their bonus Overshield and Rings when being hit by an enemy.
Override looks to have plenty on the way for fans throughout the season beyond its initial offerings. Fans have discovered a particularly noteworthy building under construction within the new map which bears a striking resemblance to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, suggesting that a Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover may be coming soon. Fortnite is also expected to add its first collaboration with Persona 5 in September, likely debuting a skin based on Joker and rumored to be adding skins of Ryuji and Ann. Fortnite‘s Override season is off to an exciting start and looks primed to keep the momentum rolling.
