After a recent leak, Playground Games confirmed the official release date for Forza Horizon 6 on the PlayStation 5, alongside pre-order details and a launch date for the first expansion. Having originally launched on May 19, 2026, Forza Horizon 6 became a massive sales success for Microsoft and Playground Games. However, that launch only included the PC and Xbox Series consoles, and now it’s getting ready to welcome PlayStation fans.
The news comes during an interesting time for Playground Games, which was part of a recent reorganization effort at Xbox Game Studios. Alongside layoffs, Microsoft announced a massive restructuring of its first part studios, one of which saw Turn 10 merging together with Playground Games. While both studios are known for their work on the Forza franchise and assisting one another on the Motorsport and Horizon games, the move is intended to better align the teams going forward since they already work closely with one another. It’s unknown currently what this means for future Forza games, but for now, Forza Horizon 6 has big plans starting in 2027.
Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Pre-Order Details and Launch Date
- Early Access Period: January 21, 2027
- Release Date: January 26, 2027
One day after the PS5 version launch date of Forza Horizon 6 leaked, official word has finally come down from Playground Games directly. In a stylish new trailer, the PS5 version will indeed be launching on January 26, 2027, unfortunately missing out on 2026 entirely. In addition to the PS5 confirmation and pre-order details, Playground Games also confirmed that the game’s first expansion pack will also be launching alongside the PlayStation 5 version on January 21, 2027. Unfortunately, no additional details were provided, though the speculation that the PS5 version was pushed into 2027 to align with the first expansion launch appears to be accurate.
Similar to the Xbox and PC launch, Playground Games has 3 pre-order options available for Forza Horizon 6 on PlayStation 5. There’s the Standard Edition, which features a Pre-Tuned Ferrari J50 as a pre-order bonus. From there, players can instead pre-order the Deluxe Edition, which features the pre-order bonus as well as a Welcome Pack and Car Pass. Finally, the Premium Edition, which also comes as a Premium Upgrade for current Forza Horizon 6 owners, features everything in the previous versions as well as the VIP Membership, 5 days of early access starting on January 21, 2027, access to both Expansions, the Time Attack Car Pack, and the Italian Passion Car Pack.
Alongside the PS5 and expansion release on January 26, 2027, Playground Games also confirmed that there will also be a free content update for all players as well. Again, Playground was unwilling to divulge the details, simply telling fans to stay tuned as more details will be shared as the launch date gets a bit closer. What isn’t super clear at this point is how or if PS5 players will be able to catch up on all the Forza Horizon 6 seasonal content and cars that Xbox and PC players have been able to enjoy since the game’s original launch earlier this year.
