Forza Horizon 6 has leaked in its entirety just days before its official release on May 19, 2026. Developed by Playground Games, Forza Horizon 6 is the latest installment in the beloved open-world racing franchise, this time allowing players to head to Japan and race in locations inspired by Tokyo, Mount Fuji, countryside highways, and more.
The game is set to launch with over 550 cars, a deep dive into the JDM culture, dynamic weather and seasons, expanded car and garage customization, car meet-ups, and plenty more. With Forza Horizon 6 crossing 500,000 pre-orders on Steam ahead of its launch, it has already established itself as one of the most anticipated games of the year. However, just before its debut, the game appears to have hit an unexpected roadblock.
Forza Horizon 6 Has Massive File Size on PC and Xbox
Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 6 takes up way more space than what some might have expected it to take up, with well over 100 GB used up on day one.
Forza Horizon 6 Has Leaked Online
As reported by Insider Gaming, Playground Games accidentally exposed the full, unencrypted build of Forza Horizon 6 while rolling out its 155 GB preload files through a Steam update. Since there wasn’t any encryption in place, dataminers gained unrestricted access to the game files. Within hours, piracy communities had already made the leaked build playable, as the title reportedly lacks anti-tamper solutions like Denuvo. That said, the leaked version isn’t a complete experience. Players on Reddit and Twitter who managed to get their hands on it have reported that many aspects of the online functionality are inaccessible, and the game crashes immediately after the first race ends.

So far, neither Microsoft nor Playground Games have officially commented on the situation. There is speculation that users who accessed Forza Horizon 6 early or attempted to connect to online services could face hardware bans. The developer previously used similar measures in Forza Horizon 5 against players who were found to be cheating in or modding the game. A hardware ban blocks access to the game entirely by identifying system components such as motherboard IDs, SSD serial numbers, TPM data, and other markers.
This isn’t the first time a big game has leaked ahead of its scheduled release. Even Pragmata reportedly faced a similar issue when Capcom uploaded the preload files without proper encryption, which allowed players to access the game before launch. Death Stranding 2 also experienced the same problem when the game was made accessible days before its debut. While these leaks might seem like a win for a portion of the community, they also create major problems. Developers can suffer significant losses in sales and revenue, while key surprises such as story moments, endings, maps, and hidden content often get spoiled. On top of that, leaked builds are often unfinished or unstable, which can leave players with a poor first impression.

Despite the leaks, the excitement around the racing game remains stronger than ever. Players who purchased Forza Horizon 6 Premium Edition will be able to access the game early, starting on May 15, 2026. It’s also confirmed that there’s a LEGO crossover coming soon that will allow fans to purchase exclusive sets modeled after the in-game cars. Many fans believe that Forza Horizon 6 could redefine the open-world racing genre with its huge map, extensive vehicle roster, and new gameplay features.
