The Duskbloods has been delayed to 2027, FromSoftware has confirmed. While the studio also provided a more positive update on the game’s development, The Duskbloods slipping into next year still marks a big blow to the Switch 2’s third-party game lineup for 2026.
Originally announced in April 2025, The Duskbloods was reaffirmed for a 2026 launch as recently as February, although the game never received an official release date. With only a few months left in the year, some fans had already begun suspecting a delay as of late, reasoning that the game’s marketing campaign would otherwise be ramping up by now.
The Duskbloods Delayed to 2027 and Is Still Without a Release Date
Those suspicions were confirmed on October 29, when FromSoftware formally announced that The Duskbloods is now targeting 2027. The developer did not provide a narrower release window, but said the game has entered its “final adjustment stage.” Elaborating on the reasons for the delay, a company representative wrote that feedback from The Duskbloods‘ August 2026 network test showed particular player interest in the game’s “combat, strategic depth, and player expression.” The extra development time will therefore be used to further refine those specific areas.
Although the delay announcement is phrased diplomatically, FromSoftware also acknowledged that the extra time will be used to address player complaints and technical issues identified during The Duskbloods‘ network test, which was held across five sessions from August 21 through 24. Revising “game rules and balancing” will be part of that effort, the developer said, while apologizing to players who had been looking forward to the RPG’s 2026 launch. Widespread login problems forced FromSoftware to end the opening network test session early, although the remaining ones proceeded as planned. Feedback remained open through September 4 via a questionnaire available even to non-participants.
The network test build represented only part of the planned game, featuring one of three maps and six of ten launch characters. FromSoftware also said at the time that its weapons, skills, Virtue rewards, and other equipment remained subject to change. Despite the technical issues, interest was strong: producer Yasuhiro Kitao previously said more people applied than for Elden Ring Nightreign‘s pre-release network test, despite The Duskbloods being exclusive to a single platform.
