Gamer Ignores Police to Play ARC Raiders

Gamer Ignores Police to Play ARC Raiders

A gamer who had the police called on them ignored the cops to go back to their game of ARC Raiders. Curiously, the obsession with ARC Raiders was part of the reason the cops were called in the first place.

Although ARC Raiders was extremely popular upon release, the title has seen a steady decline in active players over the last many months. On Steam, ARC Raiders achieved an incredible player peak of just under 482,000 people concurrently playing the game, and by the beginning of the year, ARC Raiders had passed 12 million sales in total. While some gamers have moved on or are splitting their time between ARC Raiders and other games, it seems that at least one player is extremely committed to the game.

New Extraction Shooter on Steam is the Next ARC Raiders, with a Unique Mechanic

Extraction shooters have been blowing up on Steam lately, but one upcoming game has the potential to be the next ARC Raiders, but with a twist.

ARC Raiders Player Keeps On Gaming

According to a report coming out of Pennsylvania, police were called on June 20 due to a fight. A woman, aged 49, alleged that a 39-year-old had struck her while the two were having an argument. The woman claimed that the 39-year-old had cheated on her, and was addicted to ARC Raiders, which led to the physical altercation. After the police arrived and took her statement, they attempted to speak with the 39-year-old gamer to get his side of the story. However, in the middle of the attempted interview, he simply walked away to return to ARC Raiders.

Not much else has been said regarding the incident at this time, but the man has been charged with harassment. It’s likely that any details regarding the incident will remain quiet until the court date arrives. Given that the victim of the incident alleged that the gamer was addicted, and he subsequently reinforced that notion by ignoring the police to go back to playing ARC Raiders, it may not turn out well for him.

This isn’t the first time that the police have been called while someone has been playing games, with some of the most notorious instances being when streamers have been swatted. However, it’s also not the first time that an ARC Raiders player has had the cops called, and thankfully, that case didn’t involve domestic violence or a prank call. One gamer who was staying at a motel found the police at their door because a neighbor had overheard them shouting that they had been shot. They apparently called the police out of concern for their well-being, not knowing that the only shots fired were within the video game.

In another instance, an older gamer chose to completely ignore the police when they were called to do a welfare check. A check-in program a 91-year-old had signed up for didn’t hear back from the woman, which made them believe that she was injured or otherwise incapacitated. The police arrived and received no response at the door, further reinforcing the concern, but it turned out that the woman was just fine. She’d simply ignored the phone and the knock at the door because she was having too much fun playing video games.
