Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series can get paid to play GTA 6, but the offer comes with some fine print. Regardless, GTA 6 fans who qualify may want to take their shot and try out for the chance, as getting paid to play one of the most anticipated games of all time isn’t an opportunity that one gets every day.

While Rockstar Games itself hasn’t released any official figures yet, new reports indicate that it’s likely the company has already sold over six million copies of GTA 6. Anticipation for GTA 6 has reached a fever pitch, and many more copies will sell once it’s out of the pre-order phase. Whoever ends up winning this unique opportunity to get paid to play, however, may have to cancel one of those pre-orders.

Lucky Gamer Will Get Paid to Play GTA 6

Virgin Media Ireland is giving gamers an incredible opportunity to not only score a copy of Grand Theft Auto 6 for free, but to get paid a whopping $890 to actually play it. While it sounds like a great “job,” there are a number of caveats that players need to keep in mind. To start, players will be required to play eight hours of the game within one week of receiving it. Once the player is done with their eight hours, they’ll need to post an honest review of the game on social media, with Virgin Media Ireland tagged in the post. In order to apply, entrants will need to live in Ireland and have a TikTok and/or Instagram account. Players will also need to state in 200–300 words why they deserve the opportunity. Interested parties must enter the contest by November 15, and will hear back within one week if they’re selected as the winner.

While this isn’t the first opportunity gamers have had to score a copy of GTA 6 for free, getting paid nearly a grand to spend just eight hours in the game isn’t something that’s likely to be repeated. Unfortunately, this also means that gamers who live outside of Ireland are out of luck on this particular opportunity. That will likely disappoint some, but most players will probably just remain happy that the game is finally closing in on its release date after it spent years in development and experienced multiple delays.

While there’s still a bit longer to wait until the game officially releases, players should be able to look forward to more information regarding GTA 6 very soon. Since the release of the GTA 6 Extended Look, the studio has been sharing one reveal every week on Thursday, with the next coming announcement expected to land on October 29. The team has also been sharing small reveals outside of that, like confirming that missions will give players more freedom than they’ve had in prior entries in the series.

The impact of Grand Theft Auto 6‘s release is likely to be felt in the game industry for a very long time. A lot of games ended up delaying their release dates in order to try and avoid the juggernaut that is GTA 6, though that can’t be said for all of them. Nintendo is taking its chances by releasing the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake just one week prior to the launch of GTA 6, for example, though the lack of GTA 6 on the Switch 2 will likely help to prevent either game from feeling much negative impact.
