Genshin Impact is coming out with ten featured 5-Stars across all available banners in Version 6.4, with Varka making his debut as an Anemo Claymore. While Version 6.4 lacks both a map expansion and an Archon Quest, Genshin Impact will notably feature some important reruns over the course of the upcoming update. Among these reruns, Varka will also join the playable cast, offering an ability kit centered around Swirl and augmented by flashy dual-wielding animations.
Players interested in giving Varka in Genshin Impact a try should keep in mind that his teambuilding has a few notable requirements. In order to maximize the potential of his ability kit, it is recommended to pair Varka with one Anemo teammate, and two teammates of the same element (Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo). As of Version 6.4, he is expected to fall short of most Lunar Reaction teams, but many fans believe his best support characters are yet to come – such as Nicole and possibly Lohen as well.
Genshin Impact Introduces New Characters and Returns to Mondstadt in Version 6.4
Genshin Impact is coming back to Mondstadt in a big way with Version 6.4, marking the playable debut of Varka, and introducing a new Favonius Knight.
Genshin Impact: Banner Characters in Version 6.4 (Event and Chronicled)
The Event Banners for Version 6.4 were known ahead of time due to datamining, but they were officially confirmed during the Special Program Announcement on February 13, 2026. To everyone’s surprise, Version 6.4 will also see the return of the Chronicled Banner to Genshin Impact for Mondstadt characters, bringing up the number of featured 5-Stars in Version 6.4 to ten. The first half of the update will be headlined by Varka and Flins, while the second half will see Skirk and Escoffier on the Event Banners. The Chronicled Banner will run in the first half, featuring Klee, Albedo, Eula, Jean, Diluc, and Mona.

Players who aren’t interested in pulling for Varka in Version 6.4 have a few options to consider. Those who are building a Lunar Reaction team in Genshin Impact will no doubt benefit from having Flins on their roster, while Escoffier and Skirk form the strongest possible core for Freeze teams in the current meta. In terms of raw value, fresh Genshin Impact accounts gain the most from pulling for Escoffier, as she remains one of the strongest support characters in the game – even with her being limited to Hydro and Cryo.
However, there is also the Chronicled Banner. While some of its 5-Stars, such as Diluc and Eula, have struggled to find their place in the game’s modern era, Klee, Mona, and Albedo have all found new life thanks to the Hexerei buffs introduced to Genshin Impact in Version 6.4. For example, Albedo scales especially well with Constellations, and is a great teammate for Durin’s Burgeon and Geo teams, while Mona forms a powerful core with Furina for Varka’s Hydro teams.
The success of the Hexerei feature has caused many Genshin Impact fans to ask the developers to buff other Mondstadt characters, but Version 6.4 won’t be going in that direction just yet. Version 6.4 offers a limited number of Primogems, and as such, Eula, Diluc, and Jean should be considered luxury picks. While HoYoverse hasn’t announced any 4-Star Genshin Impact characters for Version 6.4, players will be able to obtain any Mondstadt 4-Star through the Chronicled Banner.
As for future content in Genshin Impact, Dornman Port and Lohen are expected to release within the next two updates, meaningfully expanding on Mondstadt’s lore, while Nod-Krai fans can look forward to getting a 5-Star Geo-Crystallize support in Version 5.5 with Linnea. It remains to be seen if Genshin Impact will continue to add more Hexerei characters, but both Lohen and Nicole are expected to be a part of the feature. Version 6.4 is scheduled to launch on February 25, 2026, with the first phase of its banners lasting until March 17, 2026, while the second phase will continue until April 7, 2026.
