A grandma’s impressive Pokemon collection has been uncovered by her grandkids, and it’s worth a small fortune. The treasure trove is something that a lot of Pokemon fans would wish their own grandparents had set aside at some point.
Although there are a lot of modern Pokemon cards that can fetch a significant amount, rare older cards can carry a massive value because of their rarity. Not only did a lot of rare Pokemon cards only see a small production to begin with, but many have been significantly damaged due to being played with or poorly stored over the decades. A Pokemon fan called InkedSketch has revealed an incredible collection that they found at their Grandmother’s house of classic Pokemon cards, collectibles, and toys. Apparently, InkedSketch’s grandmother, who is in her 80s, had been asking for her family to come and locate the Pokemon cards that she remembered buying. The family initially didn’t think much of it, but after digging through her home, they discovered an incredible collection of sealed Pokemon cards, singles, booster packs, and more. The family has shared some pictures of the collection, which even includes a Shadowless Charizard card, and fans in the comments have estimated that the collection is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $250,000.

As a result of the collection being quietly tucked away without anyone else’s knowledge, most of it looks to be in pristine condition, which boosts the potential value tremendously. InkedSketch hasn’t revealed exactly what the family intends to do with the cards, but they could be in for quite a payday if they decide to sell.
Although rare, this isn’t the only instance of finding a Pokemon treasure trove at a parent’s property. One fan poking through their family’s storage unit discovered that their mom had bought a bunch of Pokemon Topps Trading Cards from the release of the original movie, while another was simply handed a First Edition Venusaur TCG booster pack by their mom, who had forgotten about buying it. In rare cases, Pokemon fans have gotten lucky by going to garage sales or estate sales, but since Pokemon cards are known to be valuable, it’s far rarer to find something of value that way.
