It’s expected that GTA 6 is going to smash sales records when it launches on November 19, with the recent Extended Look on Netflix likely solidifying even more pre-orders.
The GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix gave fans a taste of what to expect from the final product, showing off impressive gameplay that looks leaps and bounds ahead of what the previous game brought to the table. Doubts that may have come about from the outdated GTA 6 gameplay leaks were quickly dashed and PS5 and Xbox Series X/S console sales spiked after the Extended Look as people prepared themselves for the game’s long-awaited launch.
GTA 6 is Only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
Chances are good that GTA 6 will be the best-selling new game release of 2026 by the time it’s all said and done, but even so, millions of gamers won’t get to play it for various reasons. The big hurdle that will keep millions of gamers from playing GTA 6 is the simple fact that it’s releasing only PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This means those still on last-generation consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One will not get to play GTA 6, and those on PC will be missing out as well. A PC port of Grand Theft Auto 6 will likely be released at some point down the line, but Rockstar hasn’t announced anything about it and so anyone that wants to play the game on release will need to have a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S console handy.
Even If You Can Play GTA 6, You Might Not Get to Play Online
Whenever the inevitable GTA 6 online mode launches, it will also be inaccessible to millions of gamers, but for different reasons. PC and last-gen gamers will still be missing out, but even those with a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S might not be able to play GTA 6‘s online multiplayer mode due to new age verification laws in various countries. Anyone in these areas that can’t do an age verification check or is otherwise unwilling to will be missing out on GTA 6‘s online mode.
As it stands, we don’t know when the GTA 6 online multiplayer mode will even launch. Rockstar Games hasn’t said anything about it in an official capacity, though court documents have suggested that it will support up to 32 player lobbies. The online modes for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were added weeks after the single-player portions of those games launched, but it’s looking increasingly likely that the wait for the GTA 6 online mode will be an even longer one, with some not expecting it to come until some point in 2027, though that has yet to be clarified.
Even though the GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix gave fans a deep dive into what to expect from the game, there’s still a lot that has yet to be revealed. There are rumors that more GTA 6 showcases could be coming to Netflix in the near future, so fans should keep an eye out.
