GTA 6‘s PC release date could arrive sooner than expected, it has been claimed. The encouraging development indicates that Grand Theft Auto 6 may break Rockstar’s typical pattern of releasing its games on PC well after their initial console launch.
Delayed PC releases have been standard practice for Rockstar over the years. The developer’s games are landmark moments, meaning many PC gamers will dust off their consoles to play before eventually buying them again on PC later. It’s a clear pattern now. GTA 4 took over seven months to arrive on PC, then GTA 5 extended that wait to over a year and a half. Red Dead Redemption 2 was over a year, while the original RDR is the big outlier, taking over 14 years to finally arrive on PC. With no GTA 6 PC release date announced, there were some fears that gamers were in for another extended wait, but it seems that may not be the case this time around.
GTA 6 PC Release Could Come Sooner Than Expected, It’s Claimed
During the most recent episode of the VGC Podcast, VGC’s Andy Robinson spoke about noise regarding GTA 6‘s PC version and its potential release date. “I do think they’ll push the PC version up; there’s a bit of noise about that,” Robinson said. “That perhaps the PC version might arrive sooner than some people might expect just because of everything that is going on.” The “everything” Robinson is referring to is the hardware availability and price crisis, with current-gen consoles actually going up in price, rather than down, the older they get.
It’s important to note that Rockstar has not officially commented on the GTA 6 PC release date yet, especially regarding Robinson’s speculation on the game. However, given the pricing situation on current-gen consoles, it’s certainly feasible that Rockstar could feel it’s necessary to bring the game to PC earlier than planned, since not everybody can afford an expensive PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Still, it’s crucial to treat this as speculation until Rockstar says otherwise.
The news lines up with previous comments from Corsair back in early 2025, when the company claimed that GTA 6‘s PC release could arrive just months after the initial console launch. That comment came before the delay that led to its current November 19, 2026, release date. However, it’s entirely possible that Rockstar’s plan remains exactly the same, regardless of when it initially releases.
Any official news on GTA 6‘s PC release is unlikely to come before the game launches in November. Over the next few months, marketing for the game will go into overdrive, and hype for the game is already higher than ever thanks to the recent GTA 6 Extended Look. It’s expected to be the biggest video game launch of all time by some margin, a truly inescapable juggernaut of the industry.
