Arrowhead Game Studios reveals the addition of a new biome into Helldivers 2, one that takes players underground deep into a cave system to fight a nasty new poisonous type of Terminid enemy. Despite being only a few months away from its third anniversary, Helldivers 2 continues to deliver new content for players, with the latest introducing a new biome to explore as well as a pair of nightmare-inducing enemies.
Helldivers 2 Adds Poisonous Noxious Terminids
While missing out on Halloween by just a few days, the latest enemy types to join Helldivers 2 will likely leave some players more than horrified. The new skittering and poison-enhanced Noxious Scavengers and Spewers are set to ruin players’ runs as they attack from the close confines of these cave systems. Unlike existing Terminid Bile Spewers in Helldivers 2, the Noxious Spewer is a fast-moving spider-like creature which can use its Web Spit to not only slow players, but poison them with bites or use a Web Explosion to inflict massive damage. Noxious Scavengers, on the other hand, are much smaller, but faster and can deliver poisonous bites in rapid succession.
What’s That Weapon?

Alongside the new enemies, Helldivers 2 players will have a new biome to venture into, taking them underground into bug caves. Across the various Helldivers 2 planets, Terminid cave networks now stretch under the surface. As Arrowhead confirms, there is a greater chance for them to spawn across more biomes on the Galactic map. It’s worth noting that the tunnels are made for close-quarter combat with reduced visibility, tight corners, and now these fast-moving enemies.

With “bile” being a big part of the Terminid experience to this point, these new critters introduce players to venom, which acts a bit differently depending on how infected one is with it. On the HUD, there’s a new poison icon to help players track the effect, which leads to two different conditions:
- Lightly Poisoned – After only a few bites, players will notice their vision is a bit hazy and the health bar will begin to deplete slowly over time.
- Heavily Poisoned – Continue to get bit and conditions worsen. Specifically, health decreases faster and, in addition to the vision issues, players will be unable to sprint.
To clear these status effects, players will need to use a stim, which makes them even more valuable when delving underground.
The Noxious Terminid and Bug Cave additions are all part of Arrowhead’s plan for 2026. The studio previously revealed a roadmap of content for Helldivers 2, taking players all the way through the end of the year. While these items were initially under the October 2026 banner, it isn’t actually the last item on the roadmap. In fact, Arrowhead is teasing a new major update arriving sometime in December, helping to end the year on a high note for players. Unfortunately, there’s still no context or hints about what could be coming, so for now, players will need to continue to be patient.
