Hideo Kojima Physint Details Leaked by Casting Call

While details on Hideo Kojima’s upcoming return to stealth gaming with Physint have been few and far between, a recent casting call for performers has finally shed a sliver of light on what fans can expect, including a new villain. Phsyint, described as an “action espionage” title, will be the third major collaboration between Kojima Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment and will additionally involve film studio Columbia Pictures. Work on Pysint remains in the early stages, but another call for more actors to join the highly-anticipated production could be a sign of how the project is making progress behind the scenes.

Audiences are no doubt familiar with Hideo Kojima’s earliest outings with espionage video games in the form of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Despite Kojima’s departure from Konami separating the beloved game creator from the series, many fans have been hopeful to see Kojima return to his stealth roots after his ventures with Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2. Luckily, players have already received confirmation that Kojima’s next game will once again see the developer focusing on an action espionage experience, and new details leaked in a casting call could give early hints at the storyline of Kojima’s Phsyint.

Kojima Productions: Physint’s First Three Confirmed Actors Explained

Kojima Productions has announced the first casting choices for Physint, and the lineup includes both familiar and up-and-coming faces.

Hideo Kojima’s Physint Leaks Villain Details

Spotted by MP1st, casting calls for Physint have revealed Mari Ueda as the casting director for the game, marking the second time Ueda has worked with Hideo Kojima, after Death Stranding 2. The calls seek actors to portray passengers on a hijacked bus, including “a mother holding her newborn baby, five teenagers of different ethnicities, two other male passengers” and most notably “an antagonistic character with a German accent.” This new villain’s reference description in the casting call likens the character to “Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal but with flair.” Interestingly, Mads Mikkelsen and Hideo Kojima have worked together previously, with the Casino Royale villain portraying one of the characters in Death Stranding. For Phsyint, this parallel emphasizes an actor who can portray an antagonist who is “intense” and “confident in a psychotic way,” sharing a strong similarity to Mikkelsen’s Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

It is worth noting that Kojima Productions has worked with AAA stars on multiple occasions, with the likes of Mads Mikkelsen, Norman Reedus, and fellow James Bond actor Léa Seydoux all appearing in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding titles. However, these big-name stars are rarely pulled in via open casting calls, so the German-accented antagonist in Physint may be a minor villain and not the game’s big bad enemy. As far as story teasers go, the mention of a hijacked bus does seem to indicate that Physint will feature some intense sequences, though it remains to be seen if this bus incident will merely be included as a cutscene or if it will be a full gameplay segment in the so-called spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid.

According to the Phsyint casting calls, shooting is expected to begin in June 2026, though timelines and development can always change on a whim. It may also be worth keeping in mind that motion-capture filming for Death Stranding 2 started in 2022, but the full game did not launch until 2025. That said, the June 2026 window for mo-cap shooting could indicate that an official trailer may be on the way, and it would not be unheard of for Hideo Kojima to drop a major announcement during a gaming showcase like a PlayStation State of Play, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, or The Game Awards. Interested fans will want to stay tuned for any other detail leaks or official announcements on Physint and Hideo Kojima’s upcoming projects.
