2022’s comedic action game High on Life was a huge hit on Xbox Game Pass, and the sequel is out now. Like the original, the sequel is also included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Alternatively, High on Life 2 is available for direct purchase for $60. It’s also available on PS5 and Steam.
The original High on Life was the biggest third-party Game Pass release of 2022, though the record was later beaten by Palworld and then again by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
High on Life 2, like the first game, is developed by Squanch Games. However, a big change for the sequel is that Ricky and Morty creator Justin Roiland is not involved following the multiple controversies surrounding him.
A big part of the sequel is its skateboarding elements. Chief design officer Erich Meyr said in an interview with Xbox that the team considered a skateboarding element for the first game, but it wasn’t possible given the development timelines.
“Good ideas tend to haunt us forever. When we were brainstorming for High On Life 2, the idea scuttled its way from our collective unconscious, and we thought it would be even better as a normal skateboard that helps ground your character as an Earthling,” Meyr said.
High on Life 2 also brings back the first game’s trademark and specific brand of humor. If you’re a fan of Rick and Morty, you will be right at home. That also means the game won’t be for everyone.
