Highguard Confirms When Fans Will Get to See the Game Next

With Highguard‘s release date just days away, developer Wildlight Entertainment finally breaks its silence to announce a special showcase with an in-depth look at its gameplay, post-launch plans over the next year, and more. It’s been a very strange journey for Highguard, after its initial announcement got people excited when it was revealed that Wildlight Entertainment features former developers that worked on beloved titles like Titanfall and Apex Legends. However, the gameplay trailer that followed, left more than a few people scratching their heads.

Unfortunately, since the reveal of Highguard at The Game Awards 2025, Wildlight Entertainment have seemingly adopted a strategy of complete radio silence. Details have been near impossible to come by, with most people simply judging the game solely on what was shown in the initial trailer. The footage appears to align with online hero shooters, as two teams battle one another in an effort to be the first to destroy the opposing base. Described as a “raid shooter,” players can utilize mounts like horses to cover ground quicker, battle enemies with weapons and abilities, while attempting to claim the Shieldbreaker sword to summon a battering ram to invade the enemy base. Thankfully, it seems fans will finally get answers, though the timing of it is a little odd.

Highguard Was the ‘One Last Thing’ Announcement at The Game Awards, and It Apparently Didn’t Even Pay for the Spot

Highguard caused controversy as the 2025 Game Awards’ last reveal, and a new report claims it didn’t even pay for the coveted spot.

Highguard Announces an In-Depth Showcase For Next Week

  • January 26 at 10am PT/1pm ET

Over a month after its initial reveal and then complete silence, developer Wildlight Entertainment has finally emerged and announced plans for an in-depth look at Highguard for January 26 at 10am PT. In only its fourth tweet since the game was announced, Wildlight promised fans who tuned in that they’d get an in-depth look at Highguard, including a full deep dive into the gameplay, the studios plans for the first year of content, and much more. Many of the comments on the announcement were people commenting on the strange marketing strategy, announcing the game and then essentially going dark for the next month right before launch.

The odd piece to this announcement is that the planned time for the showcase is the same day when the game is supposed to launch to the public. It’s highly possible that the game could then launch immediately after the showcase comes to an end. It seems that Wildlight may be attempting to pull off a similar launch to how Respawn shadow dropped Apex Legends, which would make sense considering the studio has plenty of veteran developers from that studio. Still, Apex Legends seemingly came out of nowhere prior to its announcement and launch, only subjected to rumors and leaks on the internet, while HIghguard was fully revealed in December 2025 at The Game Awards to what seemed to be a lukewarm reception.

The announcement comes a day after Highguard‘s trophies were leaked, revealing new information based on each one’s description. Players noted five different classes, presumably each with different abilities that can be used to help their team not only defend their base, but attempt to storm the enemy as well. There’s also some sort of unique weapon called the BigRig LMG, which likely spawns at some point in the middle of a match where both sides can try and claim it. The weapon sounds like it’ll give a major advantage to the team that claims it, as there’s a Trophy called Suppressive Fire that can be earned after destroying at least 3 “iron walls” with it in a single match.

Regardless, fans don’t have to wait much longer to not only learn about the game, but actually go hands on with it. The good news here is that Highguard is completely free to play, so if the game looks at all interesting, especially after the showcase, there’s no barrier for players to jump in.
