Want to know when the next Honkai: Star Rail update is? Thanks to official livestreams providing banner and event details for each new patch, we usually know well in advance what’s awaiting us in the new version of Star Rail.
Each new update for Honkai: Star Rail brings new banners to pull on, events to take part in, and a new Trailblaze Mission to move the story along, with future patches set on Planarcadia for the foreseeable future, a planet with ties to Aha and the path of Elation. Plus, we usually get some sort of update to the Divergent Universe, Currency Wars, or other endgame combat mode in every patch. The current update is version 4.0, the next will be version 4.1, and this page explains everything we know about both the current and next updates in Honkai: Star Rail.
When is the next Honkai Star Rail update?
The next Honkai: Star Rail update is on Wednesday, March 25. This is the version 4.1 update that introduces new character Ashveil. Breaking tradition, 4.1 will only run for four weeks instead of six, as 4.0 was delayed by two weeks, and HoYo needs to make up time for 4.2–the anniversary patch celebrating three years since Star Rail’s release.
When is the next Honkai Star Rail livestream?
The next Honkai: Star Rail livestream should be on Friday, April 10 if the regular rule of releasing 12 days before an update is maintained. This will be the livestream detailing all the banners and events coming in version 4.2. However, there’s a possibility that the 4.2 livestream could be delayed to Friday, April 17, as version 4.1 is only running for four weeks instead of the usual six-weeks.
Honkai Star Rail 4.0 banners
In Phase 1 of version 4.0, the Honkai: Star Rail banners were Yao Guang, Evernight, Hysilens, and Black Swan, with all but Yao Guang’s banner running from February 13 to March 3. Yao Guang is running for the entire 4.0 patch instead.
The four-star characters on all their banners were:
- Pela
- Hanya
- Qingque
Then in Phase 2 of version 4.0, the Honkai: Star Rail banners are Sparxie, Yao Guang, Cerydra, Rappa, and Sparkle, with their banners running from March 3 to March 24. The four star characters boosted on these Phase 2 banners are the same as in Phase 1:
- Pela
- Hanya
- Qingque
Also, remember that Archer and Saber’s banners are still running. These Fate collaboration banners have been running since July, and are still kicking around for anybody yet to pull them.
Honkai Star Rail 4.0 events
As well as the Planar Fissure and Realm of the Strange double-drop periods, there are only two small events in the current version 4.0 of Honkai: Star Rail.
Cosmicon, Roll On!
Running from February 13 to March 23, Cosmicon Collective is a new tabletop card game that you can play in Planarcada, and this event lets you play the game in multiplayer, and collect all of the mini-game’s cards released in version 4.0. Old friends come to take part in the event, including characters from Belobog.
Ding! Arcadia Fun-Time Clock-In Essentials
Complete missions and check-in to earn rewards while familiarizing yourself with all of the new activities you can take part in on Planarcadia. Also runs from February 13 to March 23.
What is new in version 4.0?
The huge Honkai Star Rail 4.0 update includes:
- New location and Trailblaze Mission in Planarcadia
- Lots of new Planarcadia enemy types
- 2D platforming mini-games where the Trailblazer turns into a raccoon
- Arcade machines with optional, harder 2D platforming stages
- Shiftmation platforming mini-game were you alter the perspective to change routes, Paper Mario-style
- New World Shop to redeem the Gold Coins earned through 2D mini-games
- Cosmicon Collective tabletop card mini-game with collectible cards to hunt down
- Insta-Access office that acts as a hub for side missions and exploration tasks. Level it up to earn rewards
- Divergent Universe: Protean Hero adds Double Synchronicity Points and Insight Mode to help you get rewards faster
- You can now dispatch assignments and claim rewards at any time
- A preview function for unactivated Relic stat affixes, so you can see what’ll be added after you level the Relic up
- White Noise tracks for the Phonograph on the Astral Express, so you don’t have to listen to a song anymore
- Two new Relic sets
- Two new four-star Elation path Light Cones
- Two new three-star Elation path Light Cones
- New Trace materials
- Can exchange old Trace materials for these new ones in a 1:1 ratio during 4.0
- New headwear cosmetics for the Trailblazer
- Novaflare buffs for Sparkle and Black Swan
Currency Wars Update
Currency Wars: Zero Sums gets its first expansion, with the Ascension Level cap increasing to 110 with added rewards. The first expansion also:
- Removes the damage cap on single hits
- Increases the maximum Rank to A8-30, for even tougher challenges
- Adds The Dahlia, Yao Guang, and Sparxie to the character pool
- Alters some Bond effects to accommodate for the new characters
- Adds the Expert Advisor mechanic for Gallagher, Tingyun, and Qingque
- Updated a total of 39 Investment Environments and Strategies
- Adjusts some Bonds, costs, and positionings of some characters, with some even getting buffs
Rewards
We’re also getting a lot of free rewards in 4.0:
- Gift of Odyssey check-in (10 Special Passes)
- Gift of Arcada check-in (10 Special Passes, three Self-Modeling Resins, and 600 Lone Stardust)
- A Flick of Fortune check-in (can earn up to 1600 Stellar Jade, with a 0.01% chance to win 100 Special Passes)
- New outfit for Ruan Mei
- New outfit for the Trailblazer
- Character selector: Jing Yuan, Kafka, Imbibitor Lunae, Jingliu, Sparkle, Acheron, or Aventurine
Honkai Star Rail 4.1 banners
In Phase 1 of version 4.1, the Honkai: Star Rail banners are Ashveil and Hyacine, with Hyacine running from March 25 to March 17, and Ashveil sticking around for the full patch, running March 25 to April 21.
The four-star characters on both of their banners are:
- Asta
- Moze
- Misha
Then in Phase 2 of version 4.1, Boothill joins Ashveil, with Boothill running from April 8 to April 21. And don’t forget about Archer and Saber! Their Fate collaboration banners can be pulled on at any time.
Honkai Star Rail 4.1 events
As well as the Planar Fissure and Realm of the Strange double-drop events, there’s only one event running in version 4.1 of Honkai: Star Rail.
Wispae War Saga
Running from March 25 to April 20, Wispae War Saga is a roguelike strategy mini-game where you acquire and level-up wispae creatures to take part in battles across four zones. After each battle, you randomly obtain three different cards and capsules with differing effects, similar to buff cards in the Simulated and Divergent Universe modes.
What is new in version 4.1?
The Honkai: Star Rail 4.1 update is a very small patch, especially when compared to the previous mammoth-sized update. Here’s what’s new in version 4.1:
- New Trailblaze Mission on Planarcadia
- Star Rail FEST, a new area in Planarcadia inspired by Belobog, the Xianzhou Luofu, and Penacony
- Pearluxe Tower, another new area on Planarcadia
- New five-star Elation Light Cone in the shop
- Two new sets of Planar Ornaments
- Gift of Odyssey check-in rewards (10 Special Passes)
Divergent Universe: Arcadian Chronicles Update
An alternate version of the mechanics we’re all used to in the Divergent Universe. In this new mode, the universe gets a Planarcadia-inspired facelift, and new mechanics are introduced. Such as every room converting into a card, and allowing you to use Waypoint Passes to go exactly where you want (e.g. choosing only reward domains to avoid combat entirely). You choose a mask at the beginning and level it up, with more rewards waiting at the final level that makes this mode easier to complete.
