Horror Game with P.T. Vibes to Be Delisted in August

Horror Game with P.T. Vibes to Be Delisted in August

Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul, a survival horror experience that draws comparisons to P.T., is set to be delisted from all digital storefronts in August despite receiving very positive reviews on platforms like Steam. P.T. went down in history as one of the creepiest lost games, with the original title now only playable on a few devices. The same could happen to Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul, as its imminent delisting from Steam and other storefronts will make it unplayable for new users.

The list of games getting delisted or shut down continues to grow. So far in 2026, over 50 games have ended support and pulled the plug, and there seems to be no sign of it slowing down. The Lost Soul being removed from storefronts is a particularly tragic case because the game has been quite popular among survival horror fans since its initial release in 2017.

16 Games That Were Removed From Steam (& Why)

Steam has almost every PC game, but there are a few exceptions. Why were these titles removed from Valve’s platform?

Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul Can Survive on Your Device

Due to licensing expiration, Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul will leave all digital storefronts, including Steam, Meta, Viveport, and the PlayStation Store, sometime in August 2026. However, those who already own the game or purchase it before its removal will still be able to continue playing afterward. Developer VRWERX said, “If you already own the game, you’ll still be able to play it, but once it’s taken down, new purchases won’t be possible.”

The Lost Soul is an original story based on the Paranormal Activity movie franchise owned by Paramount. It was initially designed as a VR game and was available on PS VR, as well as other platforms like Meta Quest. However, it later received controller support, which eventually turned it into a first-person survival horror experience with P.T. vibes. The Lost Soul‘s gameplay is straightforward: players explore a haunted house, using a battery-powered flashlight to uncover answers behind mysterious events.

Another Tragic End-of-License Story

As for the reason behind The Lost Soul‘s delisting, developer VRWERX said, “Our license with Paramount has officially concluded, which means the game will soon be removed from digital storefronts and will no longer be available for download.” In recent months, several games have faced removal from storefronts for similar reasons, raising concerns about the future of digital games. Many believe there should be laws in place to prevent publishers from releasing games that they may not be able to maintain the rights to.

In the case of Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul, the publisher was able to support the game for nine years, which is more than many other licensed games have managed to accomplish. For example, Star Trek: Legends is preparing to shut down its servers in August as well, and the game has only been available on PC and consoles since 2024.

On a positive note, developer VRWERX has good news for fans of survival horror games. “This is not the end for us,” the studio said, adding, “We’re hard at work on new games, especially some new horror franchises that we’re incredibly excited about.” In the coming years, it will be interesting to see how the studio returns to the genre with its next horror game.
