Rockstar’s GTA 6 is priced at $80 for the standard edition, but if you’re a student who shops at Target and you meet certain eligibility requirements, you can potentially get the game for a nice discount.
Target Circle Students members can save 20% on the game’s code-in-the-box version, bringing it down to $64 before taxes. Buying the game now via preordering also gets you perks like the Vintage Vice City Pack and a free month of GTA+. The deal was spotted by Wario64.
Target Circle is free. But to get the deal, you need to verify that you are actually a student, which involves submitting a school-issued document confirming enrollment.
Do that, and you should be eligible for the Target Circle Student offer on GTA 6 for either PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
GTA 6’s $100 edition is not available in stores, so if you want that version, you have to pay full price for a digital copy.
GTA 6’s $80 price point is fair for what’s being offered, Take-Two has said. It’s $10 more than the going rate for other AAA games, but one stock analyst believes Rockstar going with $80 may help encourage other developers to follow suit. It’s also not the first high-profile $80 game, as Nintendo charges $80 for Mario Kart World.
For comparison, GTA 5’s base edition launched in 2013 at $60. That same amount of money in 2026 dollars would be more than $85 due to inflation.
GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It’s expected to be 2026’s biggest hit and one of the most successful games ever.
