Shootouts in Zero Parades: For Dead Spies are rare, but knowing how to get a gun is a vital endeavor. Melita, your operator, will tell you so when discussing your task to assemble the crew. One of the related missions is called Procure In-Theatre, which will prove to be a pivotal task as you get to the culmination of the main story.
The task itself will grant you a hint about where you should start asking about the gun. Some NPCs you’ve likely already spoken to will have more dialogue options that are bound to point you toward the same spot. This guide will explain exactly what that entails, while also offering an alternative to get a gun for free in Zero Parades, in case you’d like to save those funds for some shopping at the bazaar.
How to Buy a Gun in Zero Parades
The most straightforward way of completing Procure In-Theater is by purchasing the gun. Melita will give you a stipend of 50 sol. Depending on what you’ve been doing up to that point, you may also have double the amount in your pockets already. If that’s the case, you’ll be able to tackle the task fairly quickly.
To buy a gun in Zero Parades, you have to speak to Goat Eyes at night. He’ll be in his usual spot and will offer you a new dialogue option. It’ll take some convincing, but you’ll be discussing specifics about what gun you want in no time. The problem is that doing a regular delivery won’t work.
Goat Eye offers to procure something far less elegant–if you’re willing to pay 100 sol for it, that is. In short, you’ll need double the amount of the stipend for it.
It is a tough ask. When I got this prompt, I had more than enough to order the gun, but I figured that there must be another way. Plus, out of all of the tasks related to your assignment, this is the least time pressing of the bunch.
If you continue playing the game as normal, you’re bound to get enough sol to purchase the gun without breaking the bank. Working for The Boatman or Lucy at the bar will get you there, although these tasks can be quite time-consuming. It’s up to you how to handle it. If you’d rather save money, however, jump to the next section.
How to Get a Gun for Free in Zero Parades
If you don’t want to spend 100 ordering a gun, don’t fret–you can assemble your own firearm by following a few steps.
- Secure The Wang Guide to Improvised Firearms, Vol. 2
- Have access to the extra room at Foto 24
- Have at least one of the six wolf cups or the reconstructed model train
- Have items that can boost Technoflex
Gathering the necessary items is fairly easy. First, you have to start by securing a magazine from the book stand. It is on the path north from the bar–once you stumble upon the staircase, it will lead you directly to it. There are other tasks related to this stand, but for now, rummage through the manuals and magazines until you find The Wang Guide to Improvised Firearms, Vol. 2.
The magazine will be added to your inventory. You’ll have to inspect the item to access its contents. Make sure to read through the list, check the list of materials, and finally, examine the schematics. It’s not necessary to follow Wang’s principles to build the firearm, but if you push that line of dialogue, you’ll gain access to a new thought for conditioning.
Now, you need access to the extra room in Foto 24. On my end, I gained access to it on the third day after speaking to the receptionist. Pseudopod will be relocated here, and you’ll be able to use the workbench.
By this point, you’re likely to have all of the materials you need in your inventory. For the coin, you’ll use one sol. For the aluminium can, you’ll sacrifice one of your drinks in your inventory. As for the 500g of hard plastic, you can use a wolf cup or the reconstructed model train. If you’re doing the quest to collect all six cups, don’t worry, as the sole act of finding them will count toward the objective.
Lastly, you’ll need quite a bit of Technoflex to pull this off (16, to be precise). Some modifier checks that will benefit you here are:
- Talk to Goat Eyes first for [+1] Buying is pricey
- Go through the checklist once you have all materials for [+1] Checklist satisfaction
- Inspect the magazine properly for [+1] Examine the schematics
- Lastly, if you have the necessary parts, fix the train model first for [+1] Repaired train.
In case you need a boost to the skill, the following items will help you: Vostatok Blendcoat, Limpador Hood, and Limpador Pants. If you can equip all three, even better.
That’s all you need to get a gun for free in Zero Parades. You’ll get 30 XP and 15 sol for your troubles, too. Just be wary of how you use this weapon. During certain conversations, you may be able to show it to intimidate people, but keep in mind that this isn’t a real gun, so reactions may vary.
