How To Get Klawf And Shiny Dhelmise In Pokemon Go

How To Get Klawf And Shiny Dhelmise In Pokemon Go

Two new Pokemon have arrived in Pokemon Go. As part of the game’s Pinch Perfect event, you can now add the rock-type crab Pokemon Klawf to your team. Not only that, but the event also introduces shiny Dhelmise to the game, making this your first opportunity to catch this elusive variant.

Both Pokemon will be available moving forward, but you’ll have the best chance to catch them while the Pinch Perfect event is underway. Here are some tips on how to get both Klawf and shiny Dhelmise before the event ends.

How To Get Klawf

Despite headlining the Pinch Perfect event, you won’t find Klawf in the wild or as a Raid boss. Rather, the only way to encounter one is by completing Field and Timed Research tasks.

The game will offer a handful of free, event-themed Field Research tasks until January 11. Unlike other types of Research tasks, you’ll receive these by spinning the Photo Discs at PokeStops. While most of these missions will reward you with Stardust or Poke Balls, you’ll encounter either a Klawf or a Dhelmise when you complete the “Win a Raid” task.

On top of that, three free Timed Research questlines will be available throughout the event as well. Upon completing all of the tasks in each questline, you’ll earn an encounter with Klawf along with some XP and Stardust. You can also purchase a paid Timed Research Ticket from the in-game shop for additional tasks to complete and chances to catch Klawf.

Pinch Perfect Timed Research

These are the Timed Research questlines that will be available during the Pinch Perfect event:

Dwebble Timed Research (January 6-8)

  • Catch 5 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
  • Catch 10 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
  • Catch 15 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
  • Catch 20 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
  • Catch 25 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter

Reward: 950 XP, 950 Stardust, Klawf encounter

Can Klawf Be Shiny?

Klawf is shiny locked at the moment, meaning none of the ones you encounter in Pokemon Go so far will be shiny. There’s no word yet on when shiny Klawf will be added to the mobile game, but new shiny forms are typically introduced during events, so shiny Klawf will likely arrive as part of some future event.

How To Get Shiny Dhelmise

While shiny Klawf may not be available yet, shiny Dhelmise has finally arrived. Each time you encounter the ghost/grass Pokemon, there’s a chance you’ll come across a shiny one, which has red seaweed instead of green.

Like Klawf, you can encounter Dhelmise by completing certain Field Research tasks during the event. They will also appear in Gyms as a three-star Raid boss, so you’ll want to participate in as many Dhelmise Raids as you can during the event to maximize your chances of getting a shiny one.

The Pinch Perfect event is underway from January 6-11, but there are plenty of other events lined up for this month, including Grookey Community Day and a Precious Pals celebration. You can read more about all the Pokemon Go events happening in January in our roundup.
