The Subnautica 2 Thermal Plant is unlocked once you’re able to scan two of its fragments. The good news is that a couple of fragments are right next to each other. The bad news is that they’re located in a location that’s not for the faint of heart.

Thermal Plant crafting materials and usage

Each Thermal Plant in Subnautica 2 requires 3x Titanium, 3x Copper, and 3x Gold. Given the materials that you need, you might want to maximize each structure’s efficiency. Here’s how:

• Thermal Plants generate +1 to 16 energy per second. The amount they generate is based on the temperature of the surface where you place them.
• The Zezuran Desert happens to be filled with numerous thermal vents that produce high heat. These vents tend to protrude from sinewy branches and outcroppings. Thermal Plants that are placed next to these automatically generate the maximum amount of +16 energy per second.
• Ideally, you should place five or more Thermal Plants that are close enough to a single vent (assuming there’s enough space).
• From there, just build a single Power Transmitter to connect all of them. Construct additional transmitters so that the last node is attached to your base’s exterior.
