How to Upgrade Water Gun in Pokopia

Summary

  • Water Gun is key for restoring terrain, watering plants, and speeding up environmental tasks.
  • Unlock cooking by freeing Chef Dente in Rocky Ridges to craft Soup and other buffing meals.
  • Soup (1 Fresh Water + 2 vegetables) powers Water Gun until PP is used; other foods boost moves.

Pokopia players must take care of the environment if they want to craft items, unlock new Habitats, and discover Pokemon throughout the world. Much of the game revolves around using Pokemon-inspired abilities to restore nature and interact with the terrain. Since players control a Ditto, the creature’s ability to mimic Pokemon moves becomes a central mechanic. Using the right move at the right time can dramatically speed up environmental tasks in Pokopia. For example, the move Water Gun is especially useful for moistening dry land and watering plants, both of which are necessary for growing resources and restoring certain areas. Water Gun can even be temporarily powered up to cover a much larger area, making environmental work significantly faster.

One of the easiest ways to strengthen Water Gun is by eating Soup. Food plays an important role in Pokopia because cooked meals replenish PP and temporarily boost the power of Ditto’s moves. These buffs allow players to complete tasks more efficiently or access areas that would otherwise take much longer to manage. If players want to take advantage of these benefits, however, they must first unlock the cooking system by meeting a key character named Chef Dente.

Chef Dente is introduced naturally as part of the main story once players reach the Rocky Ridges region. While exploring this area, players will encounter Chef Dente trapped inside a barrel. Freeing them triggers a short interaction that unlocks the game’s cooking feature. After being rescued, Chef Dente explains how to prepare different meals using various cooking utensils and ingredients found around Pokopia. This moment marks an important progression point because it opens up a wide range of food-based buffs that can make exploration and crafting much easier.

To start cooking Soup, players must first obtain a Cooking Pot. In some playthroughs, the recipe for the Cooking Pot may appear in the PC Shop, allowing players to craft it directly once they have the materials. However, there is also a guaranteed Cooking Pot that can be found during exploration in Rocky Ridges. Inside the cave where Magmar was previously discovered, players can cut through a gate and collect a yellow Poke Ball containing the item. Picking it up saves time and ensures players can begin cooking soup immediately.

If players choose to craft their own Cooking Pot instead, they will need two Copper Ingots. Creating these ingots requires a bit of preparation. Players must gather Copper Ore and place it inside a Smelting Furnace. Once the furnace is loaded, a Fire-type Pokemon such as Magmar must light it to begin the smelting process. The furnace takes some time to produce the ingots, so it’s a good idea to gather other cooking ingredients while waiting.Soup itself requires only a few simple ingredients. Players need the following:

  • one bottle of Fresh Water
  • two vegetables of any type

Fresh Water can conveniently be purchased from the PC Shop if players do not already have it in their inventory. Vegetables, on the other hand, are commonly found while exploring habitats or harvesting plants that have been grown using Water Gun.

Once the Cooking Pot is ready, it must be placed on a heat source before it can be used. A stovetop or an open fire will both work. After placing the ingredients into the pot and cooking the Soup, Ditto can eat it to gain the temporary buff. When the effect activates, the PP for Water Gun turns gold, indicating the move has been powered up. During this time, Water Gun covers a wider area, making it much easier to water crops and restore patches of land. Cooking therefore becomes a valuable strategy for speeding up environmental restoration tasks.

The buff lasts until the boosted PP is fully used, but players can simply eat more Soup to restore the effect whenever needed.

Soup isn’t the only meal that enhances moves either. Other foods provide buffs for different abilities. Bread boosts the move Cut, while Hamburger Steak strengthens Rock Smash. These enhancements allow players to clear obstacles, reach new areas, and complete requests that would otherwise be impossible. Learning how different meals affect Ditto’s moves is key to making the most of Pokopia’s cooking system and exploring everything the world has to offer.
