Hundreds of Thousands of People Can’t Accurately Put Their Age in Resident Evil Requiem

Hundreds of Thousands of People Can’t Accurately Put Their Age in Resident Evil Requiem

Hundreds of thousands of Resident Evil Requiem players are unable to accurately input their age to start the game, as users have noticed that the latest entry in the series has maxed out the age selection at 100 years old. While it seems unlikely that this would affect the majority of Resident Evil Requiem players, there are nearly 1 million people in the world who are above the age of 100, and that figure continues to grow year after year.

Despite the franchise being 30 years old, Resident Evil is still going strong, with its ninth mainline entry being another record breaker for the series. Last week, publisher Capcom revealed some impressive sales data for Resident Evil Requiem, announcing that the 2026 release had already surpassed 5 million units sold in just five days. This makes it the fastest-selling entry in the franchise to date, beating the previous record holder, which was Resident Evil 6. And if that wasn’t already massively impressive, Requiem has also become the most popular Resident Evil game on Steam, peaking at more than 344,000 concurrent players on the platform, thrashing Resident Evil 4 Remake‘s record of 168,000.

Resident Evil Requiem Players Can Give Grace a Massive Advantage on Second Playthroughs (Perfect for Insanity Run)

Resident Evil Requiem players find a way to give Grace a huge advantage on second playthroughs, making it perfect for Insanity runs.

Anyone Above 100 Years Old Can’t Input Their Age Correctly Into Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem may have been a huge success for Capcom, but you won’t be able to play if you’re above 100 years old. Or, you won’t be able to accurately input your age, at least. At the beginning of Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom requires users to input their age. There’s no explanation as to why the publisher needs players to reveal this information to them, and there’s nothing stopping players from putting a completely false age in. However, one Reddit user recently highlighted how the age input is maxed out at 100, meaning anybody above that age can’t accurately input the information. Of course, it’s unlikely that anybody that is over this age is playing Requiem, but the number of people living to such an age is growing year after year.

Many players have responded to this discover with humor, with one user pointing out that LEGO cannot be used by anybody over the age of 99. However, Capcom’s request for players to input their age to play Resident Evil Requiem has previously sparked concerns over data usage. A previous Reddit post questioned the requirement, calling it “stupid,” while others pointed out how it is likely for survey purposes to see the general demographic of people playing the latest Resident Evil title. One player said they felt uncomfortable with the question as we live in an age where there is no personal privacy online.

With Resident Evil Requiem being one of the most popular entries of all time, fans will be pleased to know that rumors suggest Capcom is currently developing a DLC for Requiem, which will reportedly focus on Alyssa Ashcroft. Anybody who has played Resident Evil Requiem will know that Alyssa is the mother of Grace Ashcroft and appears briefly during a flashback sequence, but is also mentioned multiple times throughout the game as she is a key component to the plot. Given that previous Resident Evil games have also had DLC expansions post-launch, it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise if the studio intends to continue that traidition with Requiem. However, it is worth noting that this has yet to be confirmed by Capcom.

Recent reports have also claimed that Capcom is going to continue its recent trend of remaking older titles in between new mainline entries, as a Resident Evil 1 remake was recently leaked. Trusted insider Dusk Golem says the project is now in full production, but still years out. The leaker also says the next Resident Evil game will be a remake of Code Veronica, a popular entry first released in 2000. It takes place three months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and follows Claire and Chris Redfield. Again, this has yet to be confirmed by Capcom, but with Code Veronica being a massively requested remake, it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
