A Pokemon fan has finished one of the franchise’s most unconventional Shiny challenges. Almost 30 years after the release of the first game, the Pokemon series continues to enjoy popularity among gamers, who are both trying their hand at new installments and returning to well-known and iconic older titles. With nine generations of games and other properties surrounding them, enthusiasts of this Japanese franchise have a wide range of options to choose from. Their commitment is reflected in the figures, which show that by March 2025, the Pokemon series has sold over 489 million units worldwide.
Over the decades, Pokemon has become one of the highest-grossing media empires of all time, as well as the fourth best-selling video game franchise worldwide. While the main series consists of RPG games developed by Game Freak, the brand also includes numerous spin-offs released by other companies. A New Pokemon Game Has Been Announced, But It’s Not What You Expect

A user named Noa_Kyogre announced on Twitter that they had completed what may not be the most difficult challenge in Pokemon games, but seemingly one of the most unusual and time-consuming when it comes to Shiny hunting. While playing Pokemon Battle Revolution, the player managed to collect all of 12 special Shiny outfits, which can be obtained after defeating the respective endgame trainers who have them on. In this way, Noa_Kyogre completed the entire set of outfits in both the Japanese and global versions of the game.
Since Shiny hunting is a hardcore activity in the Pokemon community, it seems that no one before has managed to collect the entire set of unique outfits in this game. As Noa_Kyogre wrote in their post, it may be possible that they are the first player to have done so. They also admitted that it took them about 5–6 years to achieve this, which is probably due to the nature of this challenge, as there is a 1/8192 chance of encountering an endgame trainer with a special Shiny outfit, and it takes an average of about 10 minutes to attempt to obtain it. This is most likely why the player wrote in their next post that they never intend to take on this challenge again.

And news like this, showing determination and commitment among players, appears to have even more importance to the Pokemon community in the context of this year’s milestone anniversary for one of the most recognizable series in the history of video games.
