Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward stated that fans will not have to wait much longer to find out more details about its upcoming project. Although Infinity Ward did not outright state what the next Call of Duty release will be named, the studio said that it was focused on what has defined it from the start.

As the original development studio behind the Call of Duty series, Infinity Ward’s latest franchise work has been in a supporting role for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7. Additionally, Infinity Ward has helped with the ongoing development of Call of Duty: Warzone, including Warzone’s 2.0 release in 2022. Though Infinity Ward has developed some of the best Call of Duty titles to date, it has also released some of the more controversial entries.

Infinity Ward’s Next Call of Duty Title May Be Revealed Soon

Though rumors about Call of Duty‘s next title have been an ongoing topic, Infinity Ward teased fans with a glimpse into the studio’s future. Infinity Ward posted a letter on social media that stated it was focused on delivering a Call of Duty experience driven by traits such as precision and attention to detail. Infinity Ward stated that it looked forward to sharing more details with fans soon. However, Infinity Ward was not done giving Call of Duty fans a taste of what to expect. During the second episode of COD POD: Off Duty, Infinity Ward co-heads Mark Grigsby and Jack O’Hara said that the studio is working on “the definitive Modern Warfare” as its next project, and told fans to “stay tuned” for more information.

Whatever the next Call of Duty project turns out to be, the upcoming title will be made with current-gen platforms in mind. In early May, Activision quashed rumors that the upcoming CoD entry would arrive on PS4 and Xbox One. Ergo, fans looking to play Infinity Ward’s next Call of Duty project must purchase a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S console, or have access to a high-end gaming PC. Given that the prices of current-gen consoles and essential PC components have drastically increased due to the ongoing DRAM shortage crisis, it remains to be seen how sales of Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty release will be affected.
