Insomniac’s Wolverine Game Gets Encouraging Update

Insomniac’s Wolverine Game Gets Encouraging Update

As the season of gaming showcases begins to roll in, audiences are patiently waiting for any fresh updates on Marvel’s Wolverine, which has shared a release date but is still not offering any pre-orders. Developer Insomniac Games previously teased that more information on Marvel’s Wolverine would be coming in Spring, and some players have gotten anxious, as March has passed and April is coming to a close, leaving May as the final spring month for any news to drop. Luckily, Insomniac had finally shared a follow-up statement clarifying that more Wolverine reveals are still on the way for Spring, perhaps indicating that a big announcement is coming soon.

Audiences have a number of video game showcases to enjoy throughout the year, but the transition from Spring to Summer often marks the biggest period for major announcements for both indie and AAA studios. This is largely attributed to Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, which has become the industry replacement for E3, and has seen other major players like Xbox, Sony, and even Nintendo dropping their own presentations around the same time for extra hype. Considering Insomniac’s latest tease for Marvel’s Wolverine to come in Spring, fans may be able to narrow down exactly when the next big reveal will be dropped.

If You Want to Play Wolverine, You Probably Have to Buy a PS5 – Sony Might Be Pulling Back on Its PC Ports

According to recent rumors from an industry insider, those hoping to play Marvel’s Wolverine on PC might be out of luck.

Insomniac Confirms When a New Wolverine Update is Coming

Rumors of the next PlayStation State of Play focusing on Marvel’s Wolverine seem to be holding more water, as Insomniac’s insistence that more news on the game will be shared in Spring aligns with previous years’ May Sony showcases. Whether such a State of Play would focus entirely on Wolverine or if it would include other titles remains to be seen, but May being the final Spring month for Insomniac to keep its word on more game information while also being a month that historically includes a Sony presentation could be a solid indication that more Marvel’s Wolverine news is coming before June. The PS5 has at least a dozen other big titles releasing in May, including LEGO Batman and 007 First Light at the end of the month, so it would not be surprising to see Sony dropping a full State of Play that includes a major Wolverine feature.

The big question then becomes what exactly Insomniac may be planning to show, if the studio is in fact waiting for a State of Play to serve up more Marvel’s Wolverine details. Considering the game can presently only be wishlisted for PS5, Insomniac may be planning to open pre-orders for Marvel’s Wolverine as a “shadow drop” during the showcase. Of course, this is purely speculation, but the potential for a massive Wolverine reveal, such as pre-order or special edition bonuses, would be a perfect match for a major State of Play that also hits Insomniac’s Spring deadline.

If Marvel’s Wolverine can achieve the same level of success as Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, then Sony could have a Game of the Year contender on its hands, which also lends some credence to PlayStation perhaps wanting any pre-orders or other big news to drop during a State of Play. Interested fans can stay tuned for any official word on when exactly Insomniac is sharing its Spring update on Marvel’s Wolverine, as well as any news on when the next State of Play is coming.
