A senior Rockstar North official has issued another assurance that Grand Theft Auto 6 will make its November 19 release date. The statement is the latest in a series of efforts to reassure GTA 6 fans that the twice-delayed game remains on schedule for a 2026 launch.
There is an obvious reason for some of the skepticism still circulating on social media about the game’s latest release date as of late summer 2026. Rockstar revealed GTA 6 in December 2023 with a 2025 launch window, then delayed it 18 months later to May 26, 2026, citing the need for additional development time to meet its quality standards. In November 2025, the developer postponed the game yet again, this time to November 19, 2026, with a similar explanation that the extra time would allow the studio to deliver the expected level of polish. Since then, Take-Two Interactive has repeatedly reaffirmed the November 2026 release date for GTA 6, consistently signaling that it expects the game’s third publicly announced launch target to finally stick.
Rockstar North Boss Says GTA 6 ‘Will Be Released On Time’
The latest reassurance comes from Rockstar North Head of Development and Co-Studio Head Rob Nelson. During a late August 2026 Famitsu interview, the Japanese outlet asked the executive whether GTA 6 would really launch in November, to which he responded affirmatively. “It will be released on time, Nelson said, according to a GamesRadar+ translation of the exchange.
GTA 6 Pre-Orders and Latest Take-Two Guidance Reinforce November 2026 Release Date
Nelson’s statement lines up with Take-Two’s increasingly firm public stance on the matter. In its August 7 financial report, Rockstar’s parent company said its fiscal 2027 outlook reflected a “high degree of confidence” around the November 19 launch, tying one of its biggest financial projections directly to the current schedule. Rockstar has also moved well beyond simply listing a date on a calendar: GTA 6 pre-orders are now live, and digital buyers will be able to preload the game starting November 12, one week before launch. Those preparations do not make a delay impossible, but they certainly put the current release window further along than either of its predecessors.
The timing of Nelson’s comments is also notable because Rockstar has just entered a much more active phase of the game’s marketing. The company presented its GTA 6 Extended Look on August 27, providing a near-27-minute preview largely focused on gameplay and location showcases. In the Famitsu interview, Nelson said the team was pleased with where the project stands at the moment, while still being fully committed to polishing it on a daily basis until release.
Everyone Has Already Vacated November 2026 for GTA 6
Ultimately, nothing Nelson or Take-Two has said in recent months makes another delay impossible. Release plans can still change, particularly for a project of this scale, and Rockstar’s two previous postponements make absolute certainty difficult to justify. For now, however, the company’s public messaging remains consistent. Most would-be Q4 releases have also moved out of 2026 to avoid competing with GTA 6 and are unlikely to shift again. Although Rockstar would likely dominate even a crowded release window, it has little reason to invite unnecessary competition after much of the industry vacated November 2026 for GTA 6. Taken together, those factors indicate that anything other than a November 19 launch would be a notable surprise.
