Gears of War: E-Day’s 4-Player Co-Op Draws War Film Comparisons
Although Gears of War: E-Day will feature a sprawling city for players to go through, the game’s gritty campaign may evoke some Hollywood beats. In an interview with GamesRadar+, Searcy said that Gears of War: E-Day‘s main campaign will focus on the Bravo Squad. The four-person squadron consists of Gears veterans Marcus Fenix and Dominic “Dom” Santiago, alongside series newcomers Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes. Searcy said that the choice to make the upcoming title support 4-player co-op was an essential part of the Gears franchise’s core DNA. When discussing the Bravo Squad’s fight through the city of Kalona, Searcy invoked some of the best war movies of all time as a point of comparison. Searcy said, “It’s kind of like Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan, where you’re following this group and they aren’t always going to be in the right place at the right time.”
