While many fans feel that publisher EA ultimately wasted its Star Wars license, the Star Wars Jedi subfranchise did come out of it, and it’s one of the best modern Star Wars series without a doubt. Now, fans are getting treated to a third installment in an adaptation of the beloved Star Wars Jedi IP.
Other Star Wars games are coming sooner than Star Wars Jedi 3, clearly, with Star Wars Zero Company set to release in August. But across media, Cal Kestis’ journey is not done by a long shot, with a Disney exec recently reaffirming that Star Wars Jedi 3 was in the works. But before that happens, it seems, fans will be able to revisit Fallen Order again in December.
Star Wars: Fallen Order Volume 3 Dropping on August 1
Publisher Panini Comics has confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Vol 3, a manga adaptation of the original video game’s storyline, is available for pre-order now ahead of its December 1 release date (h/t to Collider). Players can expect 200 pages exploring Cal Kestis’ story in a new medium, with his deceased master Jaro Tapal taking center stage. Plus, Greez, Cere, and Star Wars Jedi’s Mantis crew all have a role ot play too. The official synopsis reads:
“The multi-volume manga adaptation of the best-selling Star Wars video game continues! The saga of Cal Kestis continues in volume three of the manga adaptation of the hit video game! Haunted by tragic memories and with his lightsaber destroyed, Cal’s quest is about to test him in ways he never could have imagined. As he journeys to new planets, Cal delves into his painful past and his relationship with his deceased master. With striking visuals and an action-packed story, readers will be immersed in Cal’s quest like never before.”

Alongside Jaro Tapal, Cal Kestis’ adaptation here explores his destroyed lightsaber, which brings up an interesting point. Should this manga adaptation move into the sequel eventually, it may canonize a specific lightsaber for Cal Kestis instead of allowing him the multiple new stances and forms introduced in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Of course, this would likely be a very light “canonization” if it were to even happen, as game design expanding new lightsabers and stances is just important for a feeling of progression.
The same will be true for the eventual release of Star Wars Jedi 3, which does have some good, semi-concrete news too. It’s been a couple of years at this point, but EA did confirm that Star Wars Jedi 3 was in the works back in 2024. In short, EA called Star Wars Jedi 3 a “final chapter” in Cal Kestis’ story, seemingly suggesting that his game series will end as a trilogy. Whether that holds up, or EA and Lucasfilm pursue another game given how popular the subfranchise is, it’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Cal Kestis, to say the least.
For now, Cal Kestis’ first two Star Wars games can be played again and again with little to no drag since they are so good. And for anime/manga fans, the adaptation is coming soon to help bide time as well.
