Kotaku Is Hiring A Community Editor

Kotaku is looking for a video-focused gaming expert with experience in both social media and community management to help us expand our voice and audience across more platforms and formats.

This means being as comfortable chatting with readers in the comments as remixing daily news, features, reporting, and multimedia content for audiences across each of our social media channels. The ideal candidate will be at ease creating short-form videos one second and debating in Discord the next. You’ll help us build a regular publishing cadence, optimize workflows, and find what works while staying authentic to Kotaku’s house-style and voice.

You are a fit for this role if:

  • You have a punchy writing and speaking voice and are familiar with Kotaku’s general tone and subject areas
  • You have your fingers on the pulse of contemporary gaming conversations, fandoms, and shifting trends, arguing about the next major vibe shift in a group chat well before it hits the front page of a website
  • You have an intimate understanding of Kotaku’s voice and style but want to showcase your own personality while working at the nexus of the site and its audience
  • You love experimenting with different formats while maintaining a focus on speed and flexibility, riffing on existing content while also producing original work
  • You have experience creating short-form vertical video, engaging with audiences on Reddit and Discord, and collaborating with journalists in a newsroom
  • You have a wide-ranging understanding of gaming and the ways it lives on the internet outside of the marketing hype cycle and algorithmic churn

This is a position covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the WGA-E. The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $70,000.

Kotaku’s US office is located in NYC. We are open to both NYC-based and remote candidates who live within the US.

**To apply, please email a resume, short cover letter, and 3-5 work samples to [email protected]**
