Last Flag, The Third-Person Shooter From Imagine Dragons Singer, Goes Free Every Weekend For Now

Last Flag, the multiplayer PvP game from Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds and developer Night Street Games, will host free weekends every weekend for the foreseeable future.

Players can try the demo version of Last Flag each Friday through Monday until the game’s summer patch arrives, though we don’t know when that will be.

The demo version of Last Flag is the full game, and players will match up against other demo and non-demo players on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The demo version contains all nine characters and the game’s two maps, Copper Falls and Snowfield. Players on the demo version can level up and earn free cosmetics, too.

All progression and rewards from the demo version of Last Flag will stay with your account should you decide to buy the $15 game outright at any time.

The free weekends are presumably a bid to help boost player numbers. Last Flag launched on April 14 and reached a peak concurrent-player count of 558 on Steam, but has fallen off since then. Right now, there are 60 people playing the game on Steam. Player data is not available for the Epic Games Store, and Last Flag is not available on console.

Last Flag may not have a lot of players, but it’s gotten good reviews on Steam, where it boasts a “Mostly Positive” aggregate review score after hundreds of reviews.

What is Last Flag?

Night Street Games says Last Flag is capture-the-flag, but “reimagined” as a third-person team shooter. Matches begin by giving teams 60 seconds to hide their flag before the action kicks off, with teams trying to simultaneously capture the other side’s flag while defending their own.

Capturing the flag and bringing it back to your base doesn’t guarantee victory, though, as once it’s planted back at home base, there is another 60-second round where players must defend the flag.

The game’s nine characters have their own signature abilities, so teams are encouraged to strategize to come up with the best setup. Players can also spend in-game cash on upgrades.

The game’s summer update will add a new map, Twin Temples, and a new character, Graffiti. Check out the trailers above to get a closer look at Last Flag.

It launched into a crowded market for live-service multiplayer games, with many failing to find audiences and shutting down.
