LEGO Fan Shares Impressive GameCube MOC With Controller

A LEGO fan shared their impressive custom GameCube build, complete with a controller and disk storage. Although LEGO has some official sets that recreate retro gaming hardware, the brick brand has not released many fan-favorite consoles from days past. As a result, some builders take matters into their own hands and pay them tribute in brick form.

Launched in 2001, the GameCube remains one of Nintendo’s best consoles of all time. The console was home to some legendary titles, like the first Pikmin or Metroid Prime. While it was not as successful as its contemporary rivals, such as the PlayStation 2, the purple hardware still holds a special place in the hearts of veteran gamers. Thanks to Nintendo Switch Online, some classic GameCube games have been able to make a comeback, but fans often find other ways to bring the console back to life. One GameCube fan decided to recreate it from scratch using LEGO.

LEGO’s Hit Original Theme Getting 3 Beautiful Sets in August 2026

One of LEGO’s most popular original themes in recent history is getting another expansion in August 2026, according to three separate product leaks.

LEGO Fan Creates Life-size GameCube Build Idea with Controller

Reddit user Rockets_Everywhere has come up with a custom 1:1 scale LEGO build of the classic GameCube, a console they grew up with. The highly detailed LEGO MOC showcases cable ports, disk storage, and a functioning opening mechanism. They also included a replica of the GameCube’s cabled controller, which stays true to the original button colors. According to Rockets_Everywhere, the controller’s handles are still a work in progress, but its dimensions are already the right fit.

The LEGO master builder plans on ordering the necessary pieces to bring their custom CameCube to life in the future. This isn’t the first time that Rockets_Everywhere has ventured into creating iconic consoles in LEGO format. They also showed off a build idea for the original Wii with a remote and Nunchuck, and they previously customized a PlayStation 4 build. Like Rockets_Everywhere, many other players have also paid homage to their childhood gaming hardware. One LEGO fan replicated the PlayStation 1 with a disc slot and controller ports.

Since 2020, LEGO has launched some well-received licensed retro gaming console sets, including the Atari 2600 and the Game Boy. More recently, in June 2026, LEGO launched a SEGA Genesis set with 479 pieces. There are rumors that LEGO is planning to launch an official PS1 set in December 2026, which could include a controller as well, but fans will have to wait for an official announcement in the coming months.

It has been a busy year for LEGO, but the Danish company still has plenty of major launches scheduled. LEGO has confirmed its first KPop Demon Hunters set for August 1, featuring Derpy and Sussie builds. On the same date, twelve more official Pokemon sets will release, such as the Charizard vs. Jolteon and Mewtwo’s Lab Break sets, all including Smart Bricks. LEGO’s biggest set in history, the Sagrada Familia build of 12,060 pieces, has also fixed a release date for November 1. Some leaks have hinted that November will also see a new Dragon Ball Z set centered around Shenron, the first of its kind.
