A master LEGO builder shares their custom creation, which only uses pieces from the Star Wars Millennium Falcon set to make a Sahelanthropus from Metal Gear. LEGO constantly releases new waves of sets for fans to collect, yet some classics remain popular even after many years. Fans often use these to make entirely new builds that don’t have an official set, or may never get one, and among them is the iconic Star Wars Millennium Falcon 75375 set.
Recently, 19 LEGO Star Wars 2027 sets were leaked, and there are even more on the way for next year, based on various reports. This is not necessarily surprising, as the collaboration between LEGO and Star Wars has been a long and fruitful one, and it’s common for 20+ new sets to be released each year. The 75375 Millennium Falcon set came out in 2024, and it’s become the go-to kit for the classic ship due to both the aesthetic accuracy of the build and its price point. The set only costs $84.99, which is not a lot by LEGO’s standards, let alone some of the Star Wars kits available.
Renowned LEGO master builder Minute_Food_2881 shared their custom build of a Sahelanthropus from Metal Gear on Reddit, and it’s made entirely from the pieces available in the box of the official Star Wars Millennium Falcon 75375 set. The in-game Sahelanthropus owes its name to the extinct human ancestor, and it was probably never meant to work properly. However, Metal Gear‘s Psycho Mantis managed to power it up and allow it to move upright, whereas the Sahelanthropus’ later iteration was hunched. The build by Minute_Food_2881 is an upright model, and it’s faithful to the original down to the finest details, such as the brakes on its feet, the mounted weapons, and the head complete with its cockpit. As usual, Minute_Food_2881 shared the instructions for the build on Rebrickable, under the name of CreationCaravan.
One could argue that the Sahelanthropus in Metal Gear 5 is one of the best boss fights in Metal Gear games, and regardless of that, the battle shows how powerful the machine can be. Outside of its key role in Mission 31 of Metal Gear 5: The Phantom Pain, the Sahelanthropus returns in Mission 50, and it has pretty detailed lore revolving around important characters in the series. Strangely enough, this is not the first time the LEGO Millennium Falcon set has been turned into the Sahelanthropus, as a Reddit user called rogueops666 shared a post in 2024 with a homemade build of the hunched version of the machine.
