After Astro Bot won Game of the Year at the 2024 Game Awards, many players were hoping to see the adorable robotic protagonist getting extra attention from developer Team Asobi and publisher Sony. While plenty of DLC has been released for the hit platforming game, fans have lamented the lack of official Astro Bot merchandise. Luckily, an incredible LEGO Ideas set of the new Sony mascot has been picking up steam and is looking to garner enough community support to potentially become an official LEGO kit for Astro Bot.
For those unfamiliar, LEGO Ideas is a program that allows builders to share their own custom designs online and earn votes from fellow community members for a chance at the LEGO team picking up the creation and developing an official set. Successful LEGO Ideas sets have featured wholly original ideas, as well as many builds themed after hit franchises like SpongeBob SquarePants, The Muppets, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and more. For fans wanting to see more diversity from upcoming LEGO kits, the LEGO Ideas program can be a great way to support creatives looking to bring in familiar characters from across pop culture. One such example is a new Astro Bot LEGO Ideas set that has gained notable traction, which means players could finally get their hands on official Astro Bot merchandise.

LEGO Ideas Astro Bot Set
LEGO Ideas community creator CommanderFoxQ shared their 912-piece Astro Bot set, which has already earned over 5,080 support votes, at the time of writing, towards a chance at being picked up by the LEGO team. They describe the build as utilizing a layer of Technic “to provide sturdiness to the model while also allowing a large degree of movement for increased playability.” Despite the top-heavy, small-footed design of Astro Bot requiring a stand for him to be displayed upright, his increased range of motion does give players the opportunity to pose the LEGO Astro Bot in a variety of ways that “emphasize his personality.” Players can recognize familiar details on the LEGO version of Astro Bot, from his bright blue eyes and adorable antenna to his multijointed hands and pointed feet.
It is key to note that not all LEGO Ideas kits get selected for official production, even if they manage to surpass the support threshold. So PlayStation fans may want to hold off on getting too excited about the prospect of an Astro Bot LEGO set. That said, players who have been hoping to see more collectibles for the game, besides the limited-edition Astro Bot PS5 controller and upcoming controller case, may want to consider voting for the build to give it the best chance possible.
As gaming audiences keep their fingers crossed for any news of an Astro Bot sequel, LEGO and collectibles fans are just as hopeful to see the Astro Bot LEGO Ideas kit gaining enough support and an eventual release. Only time will tell if the LEGO Ideas design can earn an official production and launch, so Astro Bot and LEGO fans may want to stay tuned for any updates on the kit and any other video game LEGO Ideas sets.
