Amazon’s Big Spring Sale is going on now, and one of the best deals we’ve found is for a popular Lego Lord of the Rings item. It’s a fitting day for a discount, too, as March 25 is Tolkien Reading Day.
Amazon is currently selling the Lego Icons The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook Kit for a nice discount. It’s marked down from $130 to only $109, which represents a savings of 16%.
The set has 1,201 pieces and recreates the iconic “You Shall Not Pass!” scene from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings movie franchise. Fans can build the set to wedge between books on their shelf, or just to admire anywhere with its open, diorama position.
It comes with poseable Lord of the Rings minifigures for Gandalf and the Balrog. Gandalf’s minifigure includes his staff and sword, while the Balrog’s includes his whip and wings.

In other news about The Lord of the Rings, it was just recently announced that late-night TV host and The Lord of the Rings super-fan Stephen Colbert is writing a new The Lord of the Rings movie. It’s tentatively called The Shadow of the Past, and it takes place 14 years after the events of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings movies.
This is the second new The Lord of the Rings movie currently in the works, joining The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which brings back Andy Serkis, who is also directing, as Gollum.
